The background of this study is the unavailability of appropriate learning modules that are measured through the level of validity and practicality, in order to improve learning outcomes that have not been achieved. It is known that the results of the UAS CAD (Solidworks) of Mechanical Engineering students at Surabaya State University in 2018 are still many students who have not been able to get scores above 60. Class 2018b that has not received a score above 60 is still 60% while for the 2018c class that has not received a score above 60 is still 66.67%. From this value the researcher will make a module to improve the ability of students in the field of CAD (Solidworks).
This research method uses the 4-D development method, where the 4-D development method is the research method used to develop certain products, and test the effectiveness of the product. Research and implementation was carried out at Surabaya State University. The instrument used to measure the value of validity and practicality of the module is to use a questionnaire on material expert lecturers, linguists, design experts, and students using module with a Likert scale 4 answer choices. As well as instruments to measure the value of module feasibility. As well as instruments to measure the value of module feasibility. This research is expected to produce appropriate module output so that through the learning process using modules can improve student learning outcomes better than the learning process without using modules.
The results of the study with Solidworks application support showed that module validation scores by material competency lecturers were 3.63, language competencies were 3.56 and design competencies were 3.6, where those percentages were interpreted on a Likert Scale, included in the criteria were very feasible. The results of student responses are obtained with a percentage of 92% with very good criteria. The first stage of learning outcomes before using the module percentage value has not met the criteria with an average value of 53.91 in the second stage after learning using the module get an average value of 80.41 and this stage has increased. This proves that there is an increase in learning outcomes for TMA17 students in CAD courses in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Surabaya State University.
