PENGGUNAAN MEDIA GAMBAR DALAM KEMAMPUAN MEMBACA ANAK TUNAGRAHITA
THE USE OF IMAGE MEDIA IN READING ABILITY OF MENTAL RETARDED CHILDREN
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji media gambar dalam kemampuan membaca anak tunagrahita. Metode yang digunakan sebagai desain yakni studi kepustakaan dengan pencarian 10 artikel di database melalui Google Scholar, Research Gate, Atlantis Press, JASSI, dan IJDS. Pengumpulan data diperoleh dengan prosedur pemilihan topik, eksplorasi informasi, menentukan fokus penelitian, pengumpulan sumber data, membaca sumber data, membuat catatan dan mengelolah catatan penelitian. Analisis data menggunakan teknik deskriptif kualitatif dengan tahap reduksi data, penyajian dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil kajian pada 10 artikel menunjukan bahwa media gambar dalam bentuk storyboard, komik, buku cerita, gambar berseri, dan big book dapat digunakan dalam membantu membaca anak tunagrahita. Simpulan dalam penelitian ini, bahwa media gambar berpotensi untuk membelajarkan membaca kata dan kalimat sederhana pada anak tunagrahita.

This study aims to examine the image media in the reading ability of mentally retarded children. The method used as a design is a literature study by searching 10 articles in the database through Google Scholar, Research Gate, Atlantis Press, JASSI, and IJDS. Data collection was obtained by using the procedure for selecting topics, exploring information, determining the focus of the research, collecting data sources, reading data sources, making notes and managing research notes. Data analysis used descriptive qualitative techniques with data reduction, presentation and conclusion stages. The results of the study on 10 articles showed that image media in the form of storyboards, comics, story books, picture series, and big books could be used to help children with mental retardation read. The conclusion in this study is that image media has the potential to teach reading simple words and sentences to mentally retarded children.
