Analysis of Student Attitudes in Addressing Conflicts and Differences of Opinion Between Peers
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji cara mahasiswa menangani ketidaksepakatan
dengan teman sebaya di dalam kelas. Meskipun konflik merupakan bagian normal dari
interaksi sosial, penanganan yang tidak tepat berpotensi menimbulkan ketegangan
antarpribadi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik
purposive sampling. Tiga mahasiswa berusia 21–22 tahun dipilih sebagai informan dan
diwawancarai secara mendalam. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara semi-
terstruktur, catatan lapangan, dan dokumentasi pendukung. Data dianalisis secara naratif
berdasarkan lima aspek, yaitu pola komunikasi dalam konflik, sikap emosional, teknik
resolusi konflik, dampak psikologis dan relasional, serta nilai sosial dan sikap terhadap
perbedaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa cenderung bersikap terbuka,
tegas, dan empatik dalam menghadapi perbedaan pendapat. Mereka mampu mengelola
emosi negatif, mengutamakan kerja sama dan kompromi, serta memandang konflik
sebagai sarana pembelajaran sosial. Kecerdasan emosional dan kemampuan komunikasi
interpersonal berperan penting dalam membentuk sikap adaptif mahasiswa terhadap
konflik, sehingga tercipta budaya komunikasi kampus yang positif dan inklusif.
This study aims to examine how university students manage disagreements with their
peers in the classroom. Although conflict is considered a normal part of social
interaction, inappropriate handling may lead to interpersonal tension. This research
employs a descriptive qualitative approach using purposive sampling. Three students
aged 21–22 years were selected as informants and interviewed in depth. Data were
collected through semi-structured interviews, field notes, and supporting documentation.
The data were analyzed narratively based on five aspects: communication patterns in
conflict, emotional attitudes toward conflict, conflict resolution techniques, psychological
and relational effects, and social values and attitudes toward differences. The findings
indicate that students tend to demonstrate openness, assertiveness, and empathy when
dealing with disagreements. They are able to manage negative emotions, prioritize
cooperation and compromise, and view conflict as an opportunity for social learning.
Emotional intelligence and interpersonal communication skills significantly influence
students’ adaptive attitudes toward conflict, contributing to the development of a positive
and inclusive communication culture on campus.
