LANSKAP PSYCHEDELIC SEBAGAI SUMBER INSPIRASI PERANCANGAN ILUSTRASI ALBUM LOKA IMAJI BAND THE OLD PINES

PSYCHEDELIC LANDSCAPE AS A SOURCE OF INSPIRATION OF THE OLD PINES LOKA IMAJI ALBUM ILLUSTRATION DESIGN

Musik menjadi salah satu kebutuhan pokok akan hiburan, dalam hal ini manusia dituntut untuk selalu berinovasi menciptakan karya musik yang berkarakter dan bisa dinikmati secara massal. Salah satu elemen penting dalam mempromosikan karya musik adalah melalui distribusi album fisik dan digital. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi adanya kebutuhan komunikasi visual untuk album pertama band The Old Pines yang berjudul Loka Imaji. The Old Pines adalah band dari Sidoarjo yang terbentuk pada tahun 2017, yang memainkan musik perpaduan antara genre Stoner Rock dan Psychedelic. Sebagai upaya untuk mengenalkan album perdana mereka, maka dibutuhkannya perancangan komunikasi visual dalam upaya menyampaikan pesan dan membentuk citra album Loka Imaji ini. Sumber data berasal dari wawancara dengan personel band The Old Pines, serta data sekunder dari internet. Proses perancangan ini diawali dengan melakukan interview bersama personel band The Old Pines untuk mendapatkan detail tentang representasi serta isi dari album ini, kemudian mendengarkan lagu dari album Loka Imaji, juga melalui proses analisis SWOT hingga ke proses perancangan. Konsep ilustrasi menerapkan gaya Psychedelic Fantasy atau Surrealism yang dapat merepresentasikan sisi garang dari musik Stoner Rock dan keindahan warna kontras psychedelic. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengoptimalkan fungsi dari ilustrasi sebagai teknik dalam menyampaikan pesan dari album Loka Imaji dan menjadi identitas musik yang dibawakan oleh band The Old Pines.

Music is one of the basic necessities for entertainment, in this case humans are required to always innovate to create musical works with character and can be enjoyed en masse. One of the important elements in promoting musical works is through the distribution of physical and digital albums. This research was motivated by the need for visual communication for the band's first album The Old Pines, entitled Loka Imaji. The Old Pines is a band from Sidoarjo that was formed in 2017, which plays a mix of Stoner Rock and Psychedelic genres. As an effort to introduce their debut album, visual communication design is needed in an effort to convey messages and form the image of this Loka Imaji album. The data source comes from interviews with The Old Pines band personnel, as well as secondary data from the internet. The design process began with conducting interviews with band personnel from The Old Pines to get details about the representation and contents of this album, then listening to songs from the Loka Imaji album, also going through the SWOT analysis process to the design process. The illustration concept applies Psychedelic Fantasy or Surrealism style which can represent the fierce side of Stoner Rock music and the beauty of psychedelic contrasting colors. The results of this study are to optimize the function of illustration as a technique in conveying messages from the Loka Imaji album and become the musical identity performed by the band The Old Pines.
