Abstract
This study aims to describe and elaborate the steps and the fairness of
HOTS-based assessment instrument establishment on Japanese subject of X grade
in SMK Negeri 1 Prigen. The type of research used in this study is research and development (RnD). Ten development phases were used
in the present study, namely discovery of potential and proposition, literature
studies or information gathering, product design, design validation, design
revision, product making, qualified trial, product revision 1, application
trial, and product revision.
This study results indicate that in the process of HOTS-based assessment
instrument establishments need to be comprehended about how the learning
process is, the material taught that has taken place is subsequently
implemented following HOTS criteria. The results obtained from question items
analysis reveal that the development of HOTS-based assessment instrument has
good valid quality on either multiple choice or essay exercise. The reliability
has moderate reliability interpretation, specifically 0,68 on multiple-choice
exercise and 0.52 on essay exercise. Students’ works scores have an adequate
interpretation with an average of up to 47.5. 80% of the item differences
potency level can be stated as good. 75% of the item difficulty level can be
stated as having moderate criteria. 90% of the answer distribution pattern of
the whole answer options can be stated as good. Therefore, the general analysis
that has been done indicates that 60% of question items can be stated as good,
33% of question items solely have one poor criterion on one of the question
items’ fairness analysis, and one question or 3% of question items have
question items’ fairness with poor interpretation more than one analysis, thus
it should be aborted, and the remaining of 14 question items can be reused .
