Jakop's Loneliness in Jostein Gaarder's The Puppeteer: A Psychoanalysis Study

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh perasaan kesepian yang dialami Jakop dan kebohongan yang dilakukannya kepada orang-orang saat menghadiri pemakaman. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan psikologis Jacques Lacan. Dalam konsep psikoanalitik Jacques Lacan, ada tiga konsep utama: Nyata, Imajiner, dan Simbolis. Permasalahan yang dibahas dalam penelitian ini adalah konsep Nyata, Imajiner, dan Simbolik yang dialami oleh tokoh Jakop dalam novel "The Puppeteer" dan penggambaran kesepian pada tokoh Jakop. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menentukan bentuk kesepian dalam karakter Jakop dan bagaimana kesepian dapat mengarah pada kebohongan Jakop dengan menggunakan teori psikoanalisis Jacques Lacan. Penelitian ini menemukan dua jenis kesepian yang dirasakan oleh tokoh Jakop; kesepian emosional dan kesepian sosial. Kemudian, bentuk konsep psikoanalitik Lacan, Nyata, Imajiner, dan Simbolik, dialami Jakop semasa kecil.

This research was motivated by the feeling of loneliness experienced by Jakop and the lies he made to people while attending funerals. This research used Jacques Lacan’s psychological approach. In Jacques Lacan’s psychoanalytic concept, there are three main concepts: the real, the imaginary, and the symbolic. The problems discussed in this study are the real, imaginary, and symbolic concepts experienced by Jakop’s character in the novel The Puppeteer and portraying loneliness in Jakop’s character. This article resulted in determining the form of loneliness in Jakop’s character and how loneliness can lead to Jakop’s lies using the psychoanalysis theory of Jacques Lacan. This study found two types of the loneliness felt by Jakop figures; emotional loneliness and social loneliness. Then, the form of Lacan’s psychoanalytic concept, the real, the imaginary, and the symbolic, was experienced by Jakop during his childhood.
