STUDI TENTANG MINAT MAHASISWA TERHADAP PROFESI GURU PADA MAHASISWA PROGRAM STUDI S1 PENDIDIKAN GEOGRAFI UNIVERSITAS NEGERI SURABAYA
A STUDY OF STUDENTS' INTEREST IN THE TEACHING PROFESSION AMONG STUDENTS OF THE GEOGRAPHY EDUCATION STUDY PROGRAM STATE UNIVERSITY OF SURABAYA
Profesi guru berperan penting dalam mencetak generasi unggul, namun minat mahasiswa untuk menjadi guru, khususnya guru geografi masih relatif rendah. Hasil pra penelitian terhadap 16 mahasiswa, menunjukkan minat mahasiswa Pendidikan Geografi UNESA untuk menjadi guru tergolong rendah, yaitu 43,8% mahasiswa tidak berminat menjadi guru. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi minat mahasiswa terhadap profesi guru, seperti: (1) jenis kelamin, (2) motivasi, (3) dukungan keluarga, (4) teman sebaya, (5) ekonomi, (6) mengidentifikasi faktor yang paling berpengaruh.
Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Sampel penelitian adalah 88 mahasiswa program studi S1 Pendidikan Geografi UNESA angkatan 2021. Pengumpulan data diambil melalui kuesioner. Analisis data dilakukan dengan uji Chi-Square dan regresi logistik berganda untuk mengidentifikasi hubungan dan pengaruh masing-masing variabel.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) tidak ada pengaruh antara faktor jenis kelamin dengan minat mahasiswa terhadap profesi guru dengan nilai p = 0,104, 2) ada pengaruh antara faktor motivasi dengan minat mahasiswa terhadap profesi guru dengan nilai p = 0,000, 3) ada pengaruh antara faktor dukungan keluarga terhadap minat mahasiswa berdasarkan uji Chi-Square (p = 0,000), namun tidak signifikan dalam regresi logistik berganda (p = 0,757), 4) faktor teman sebaya juga menunjukkan hubungan signifikan pada uji Chi-Square (p = 0,000), namun tidak signifikan dalam regresi logistik berganda (p = 0,703), 5) faktor ekonomi berhubungan signifikan dalam uji Chi-Square (p = 0,002), namun tidak signifikan secara parsial dalam regresi logistik berganda (p = 0,651), 6) Faktor yang paling berpengaruh terhadap minat mahasiswa untuk menjadi guru adalah motivasi, dengan nilai signifikansi p = 0,000.

The teaching profession plays a crucial role in producing a superior generation, yet student interest in becoming teachers, particularly geography teachers, remains relatively low. Preliminary research on 16 students showed that interest in becoming teachers among UNESA Geography Education students is relatively low, with 43.8% of students not interested in becoming teachers. This study aims to identify factors influencing student interest in the teaching profession, such as: (1) gender, (2) motivation, (3) family support, (4) peers, (5) economic situation, and (6) identifying the most influential factors.
This study employed a descriptive approach with a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 88 undergraduate students in UNESA Geography Education, class of 2021. Data were collected through questionnaires. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test and multiple logistic regression to identify the relationships and influences of each variable.
The results of the study showed that: 1) there was no influence between gender factors and students' interest in the teaching profession with a p value = 0.104, 2) there was an influence between motivation factors and students' interest in the teaching profession with a p value = 0.000, 3) there was an influence between family support factors on students' interest based on the Chi-Square test (p = 0.000), but it was not significant in multiple logistic regression (p = 0.757), 4) peer factors also showed a significant relationship in the Chi-Square test (p = 0.000), but it was not significant in multiple logistic regression (p = 0.703), 5) economic factors were significantly related in the Chi-Square test (p = 0.002), but were not partially significant in multiple logistic regression (p = 0.651), 6) The most influential factor on students' interest in becoming teachers was motivation, with a significance value of p = 0.000.
