PRO-KONTRA STATUS PIONIR PT TIMOR PUTRA NASIONAL (TPN) 1996: PERSPEKTIF GATRA, TIRAS, KOMPAS, DAN JAWA POS

PROS AND CONS OF PT TIMOR PUTRA NASIONAL (TPN) 1996 PIONEER STATUS: 

GATRA, TIRAS, KOMPAS, AND JAVA POS PERSPECTIVE

Guna mewujudkan keinginan untuk memiliki industri mobil nasionalnya, pemerintah Indonesia mengeluarkan kebijakan kontroversial berupa Inpres Nomor 02 Tahun 1996 mengenai pengembangan industri mobil nasional. Kebijakan ini secara tiba-tiba menyematkan status pionir kepada PT Timor Putra Nasional (TPN), sebuah perusahaan yang masih baru dalam industri otomotif di Indonesia. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah 1). Mengetahui bagaimana analisis pemberitaan mengenai pro-kontra status pionir PT TPN dalam perspektif Gatra, Tiras, Kompas, dan Jawa Pos, 2). Mengetahui mengapa terdapat sikap pro-kontra dalam pemberitaan penetapan PT TPN sebagai perintis mobil nasional di Gatra, Tiras, Kompas, dan Jawa Pos. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penulisan sejarah yang terdiri dari heuristik, kritik, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menyatakan jika dalam pemberitaannya Gatra, Kompas, dan Jawa Pos memilih bersikap mendukung (pro) terhadap penetapan status pionir PT TPN. Narasi yang dibangun oleh ketiga media tersebut yakni Gatra menekankan bahwa Timor merupakan mobil murah yang ditunggutunggu masyarakat dan ATPM tidak perlu takut akan kemunculannya, sementara Kompas berharap pada keberhasilan Timor. Jawa Pos bersikap netral dan informatif, namun secara halus menunjukan dukungannya dengan narasi-narasi positif dan menghindari kritik mendalam, sedangkan Tiras mengambil sikap vokal dan kritis (Kontra). Tiras menilai kebijakan tersebut sebagai langkah yang impulsif atau terburu-buru. Kata Kunci: PT TPN, Mobil Timor, Mobil Nasional, Inpres

The narrative built by the three media, namely Gatra emphasizes that Timor is a cheap car that the public has been waiting for and ATPM need not be afraid of its appearance, while Kompas hopes for Timor's success and Jawa Pos is neutral and informative, but subtly shows its support with positive narratives and avoids deep criticism, while Tiras takes a vocal and critical stance (Contra).
