This study aims to describe the emotions of the
characters in the novel The Coldest Boyfriend by Itsfiyawn and its benefits in
learning literature in high school. Various emotions of the characters are
expressed in accordance with the theory of emotion classification from David
Krech's perspective. The approach used in this research is a literary
psychology approach. This research is classified as qualitative research. The
source of data in the study was obtained from the text of the novel The Coldest
Boyfriend by Itsfyawn. The data included comes from paragraphs, sentences,
dialogs, and monologues that show the character's emotions. Data collection
techniques use listening-reading-recording techniques while data analysis
techniques use content analysis techniques. The results of this study found 54
emotion data consisting of 8 data of happy emotions, 10 data of angry emotions,
4 data of fear emotions, 11 data of sad emotions, 5 data of pain emotions, 1
data of disgust emotions, 3 data of pleasure emotions, 4 data of pride and
shame emotions, 2 data of guilt and regret, 4 data of love emotions and 2 data
of hate emotions. The emotions found in the novel can be used for literature
learning materials that aim to provide an overview of how humans in the real
world recognize, express, and manage their emotions. In addition, students can
learn the values of life presented in the novel, thus indirectly helping to
shape the character of students.
