The Perumtas III area located in Grabagan
Village, Tulangan District, Sidoarjo Regency was originally dominated by
agricultural land. Along with the dynamics of development and efforts to meet
the needs of community housing, so that there is conservation of agricultural
land into residential areas. This phenomenon attracts the attention of
researchers because it has the potential to cause impacts that have an
influence on the socio-economics of the community, especially for those whose
livelihoods are mostly farmers. The purpose of this study was to determine how
the impact of the conversion of agricultural land into housing affects the
socio-economic conditions of the community living in Perumtas III, Grabagan
Village.
This
study uses a survey method, the approach used is a quantitative descriptive
approach. The population of the study was the population of Perumtas III,
Grabagan Village, totaling 76 respondents. Various methods, including
observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. Used to collect
data. After data collection, quantitative descriptive analysis was carried out
using percentages.
The
research results found a significant influence on social change, especially in
social structure. Socially, the age distribution has changed, with younger age
groups now dominating. Most farmers are elderly, because young people are
generally not interested in working in agriculture, farmer regeneration is a
challenge in itself. Meanwhile, the impact of land conversion on livelihoods is
not very significant. People still depend on agriculture as farm laborers for
their livelihoods. On average, people only finish elementary school education,
making it difficult to adjust to a new career, which has a significant impact.
On average, people experience a decrease in income and expenditure after land
conversion. After conversion, land prices increase but not significantly. This
increase only shows a positive correlation between changes in land use and an
increase in the economic value of land.
