Dampak Kecemasan Terhadap Fungsi Ego Tokoh Dalam Novel Gemulung Karya Tary Lestari

The Impact of Anxiety on the Functions of the Ego of Characters in Tary Lestari's Gemulung Novel 

(Psychoanalytic Studies) 

Karya sastra pada dasarnya merupakan gambaran imajinatif dari proses kehidupan nyata yang juga berkaitan erat dengan aspek psikologis manusia. Novel Gemulung karya Tary Lestari ini menarik untuk diteliti dari aspek psikologis sebab bercerita mengenai kecemasan yang dialami oleh para tokoh serta dampak kecemasan terhadap fungsi ego. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan (1) bentuk kecemasan yang dialami oleh tokoh dalam novel, (2) dampak kecemasan terhadap fungsi ego tokoh dalam novel,  (3) implementasi dampak kecemasan terhadap tindakan tokoh dalam novel.  Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan psikologi dan metode kualitatif dengan menitikberatkan pemecahan masalah secara deskriptif. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah novel Gemulung karya Tary Lestari. Data penelitian yang berkaitan dengan dampak kecemasan yakni berupa kalimat dan paragraf dalam novel. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan teknik baca dan catat serta riset kepustakaan. Dengan menggunakan teori psikoanalisis Sigmund Freud yang berfokus pada kecemasan sebagai variabel penting maka diperoleh hasil penelitian yang terbagi menjadi tiga subbab yakni (1) bentuk kecemasan yang dialami oleh tokoh dalam novel Gemulung karya Tary Lestari yakni kecemasan realistik, kecemasan moral dan kecemasan neurotik, (2) dampak kecemasan terhadap fungsi ego tokoh pada novel Gemulung karya Tary Lestari, (3) implementasi dampak kecemasan terhadap tindakan tokoh dalam novel sebagai bagian dari keinginan untuk bertahan hidup.

Literary works are basically an imaginative picture of real life processes which are also closely related to human psychological aspects. The novel Gemulung by Tary Lestari is interesting to study from a psychological aspect because it tells about the anxiety experienced by the characters and the impact of anxiety on ego function. The purpose of this study was to describe (1) the form of anxiety experienced by the character in the novel, (2) the impact of anxiety on the ego function of the character in the novel, (3) the implementation of the impact of anxiety on the actions of the character in the novel. On this study uses psychology and qualitative methods with an emphasis problem solving descriptively. The data source in this research is the novel Gemulung by Tary Lestasri. Research data related to the impact of anxiety in the form of sentences and paraghraps in the novel. Data collection as well as research techniques with reading and note taking techniques and collection of library data. By using Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalytic theory focusing on anxiety as an important variable, the results obtained are divided into three subchapters, namely (1) the forms of anxiety experienced by the characters in Tary Lestari’s Gemulung novel, namely realistic anxiety, moral anxiety and neurotic anxiety, (2) the impact of anxiety on the character’s ego function in the novel Gemulung by Tary Lestari, (3) implementation of the impact of anxiety on the character’s actions in the novel as part of the desire survive.
