LAGU “SPEECHLESS” DALAM TINJAUAN UNSUR - UNSUR ESTETIKA MUSIK

THE SONG “SPEECHLESS” IN THE REVIEW OF THE ELEMENTS OF MUSICAL AESTHETIC

Lagu “Speechless” merupakan salah satu lagu tema film “Aladdin” live action 2019 yang sukses dan berhasil didengar 397 juta kali di kanal youtube DisneyMusicVevo. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menganalisis nilai intrinsik estetika musik pada struktur lagu “Speechless” dan mendeskripsikan nilai esktrinsik estetika musik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, daftar pustaka. Data yang diperoleh berupa jurnal, buku, hasil wawancara, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dilakukan reduksi data, analisis data, penyajian data kemudian kesimpulan. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan lagu “Speechless” memiliki nilai intrinsik estetika musik yang terlihat dari struktur lagu yang lengkap. Terdiri dari introduction, verse 1, prechorus 1, chorus, verse 2, prechorus 2, bridge, coda, outro. Dimana pada bagian lagu ini terdapat simetri, asimetri, ritme yang berulang, penonjolan, kontras, dan keseimbangan lagu yang membuat lagu ini tidak monoton. Nilai ekstrinsik lagu “Speechless” terdapat pada gagasan atau ide dan ibarat atau pesan yang dibangun untuk mendukung musik lagu “Speechless”. Ide yang berawal dari alur film Aladdin akan tokoh puteri Jasmine yang hak berbicaranya dibungkam sehingga ide dari lagu ini menggambarkan tema atau alur cerita dari film Aladdin, dari ide tersebut terdapat ibarat atau pesan yaitu berani dalam menyuarakan pendapat. Pesan dari lagu “Speechless” juga dapat terlihat dari lirik lagunya. Berdasarkan teori makna lirik lagu “Speechless” memiliki makna kontekstual dan kiasan yang menggambarkan kegelisahan dan perubahan karakter menjadi keberanian karena sering kali tidak didengar.

The purpose of this research is to analyze intrinsic value of musical aesthetics in structure of song “Speechless” and describe extrinsic value of musical aesthetics. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods using data collection techniques through observation, interviews, documentation, literature. Data collected from journals, book, interview results, and documentation. Then data reduction, data analysis, data presentation, and conclusions. Results of this research show the song “Speechless” has an intrinsic value of musical aesthetics that seen from the complete song structure. Consists of introduction, verse 1-2, prechorus1-2, chorus, bridge, coda, outro. In this part of the song there is symmetry, asymmetry, repetitive, rhytms, accents, contrasts, and song balance makes this song not monotonous. The extrinsic of the song “Speechless” is found in the idea and the message that built to support the music of the song “Speechless”. The idea start from the plot of movie Aladdin that character of Princess Jamsine whose right to speak is silenced so the idea of this song to describes storyline of the movie, and from that idea, the message for the audience is we must brave in voicing opinions. The message of song “Speechless” can be seen from the lyrics. Based on theory of meaning, the lyrics of “Speechless” have contextual and figurative meaning describe anxiety and character development to be brave because often not heard.
