HABITUS AS A CAFÉ SINGER OF STUDENT COLLEGE IN SURABAYA

ABSTRAK

Menyandang status sebagai mahasiswa tidak dapat terlepas dari banyaknya tugas serta padatnya jadwal perkuliahan. Namun hal tersebut tidak mengurangi mahasiswa-mahasiswi untuk tetap melakukan profesi penyanyi kafe di tengah kesibukannya sebagai seorang mahasiswa. Fokus pada penelitian ini adalah mencari bentuk proses habituasi mahasiswa yang berprofesi sebagai penyanyi kafe. Tujuan utama penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi faktor apa saja yang membentuk habitus pada mahasiswa serta habitus seperti apa yang dapat mempengaruhi pilihan-pilihan tindakan mahasiswa yang berprofesi sebagai penyanyi kafe di Surabaya.

            Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan menggunakan teori habitus Pierre Bourdie. Habitus menurut bourdie membahas tentang sebuah arena sosial dimana orang bermanuver dan berjuang, dalam mengejar sumber daya yang didambakan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa ranah (fields) yang dimaksud adalah profesi penyanyi kafe tersebut. Serta dalam proses pembentukan habitus pada mahasiswa penyanyi kafe terdapat dua faktor yang mendominasi mahasiswa untuk memilih profesi tersebut antara lain keuangan dan hobi

ABSTRACT

Having status as a college student cannot be separated from the many assignments and the tight lecture schedule. However, this does not reduce the college students from continuing to do the cafe singing profession in the midst of their busy life as a college student.

The focus of this research is to find a form of habituation process for students who work as cafe singers. The main objective of this study is to identify what factors form the habitus of students and what kind of habitus can influence the choices of actions of students who work as cafe singers in Surabaya. This study used a qualitative approach using Pierre Bourdie's habitus theory. Habitus according to Bourdie discusses a social arena where people maneuver and struggle, in pursuit of coveted resources. The results showed that the fields in question were the cafe singer profession. As well as in the process of forming a habitus in cafe singer students, there are two factors that dominate students in choosing the profession, namely finance and hobbies
