Development Of Web-Based Smart Journey To Enhance
Analytical Skills in Geography Subject on GIS and Remote
Sensing Material for Twelfth-Grade Students of Twelve State
High School Surabaya

This study aims to develop a web-based learning media called Smart
Journey to enhance students' analytical skills in Geography subjects,
specifically in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote
Sensing materials. The research background highlights the low analytical
abilities of twelfth-grade students at SMA Negeri 12 Surabaya due to the
limitations of previously used learning media. The research employed the
ADDIE development model, consisting of analysis, design, development,
implementation, and evaluation stages. The product was developed as an
interactive virtual tour that allows students to explore potential areas and
road networks in Surabaya visually and contextually. Validation results
show that the Smart Journey learning media received an excellent
feasibility rating: media experts 97%, material experts 94%, and
instructional design experts, 100%. The teaching module was assessed as
feasible by material experts at 83% and instructional design experts at
100%. The supplementary materials were validated as highly feasible by media experts at 100%, material Experts at 87%, and instructional
design experts at 100%.The test item validation by evaluation experts
achieved 92%. Effectiveness tests conducted on the experimental and
control classes demonstrated a significant improvement in students' analytical skills in the experimental class, with higher post-test scores.
The t-test analysis indicated a significant difference between the two
groups. Therefore, the web-based Smart Journey learning media is both
effective and feasible for improving analytical skills in Geography
learning, particularly in GIS and Remote Sensing materials.
