The importance of the influence of
career development on employee performance through motivation as a basis for
improving the company PT. PLN (Persero) Bojonegoro Area Customer Service
Network Unit. With the conditions of increasingly fierce competition in free
trade, the company strives to always satisfy, provide, improve the sales image
and public service that can increase the company's competitiveness which is
seen as capital and a weapon to innovate and win the competition. PT. PLN (Persero)
Bojonegoro Area Customer Service Network Unit is an electricity service company
that is currently accelerating, enlarging and improving the image of sales and
services to the community. Therefore, the culture that is developed must be in
accordance with what is desired by the customer community and the company
itself in order to become a reliable company.
Career development must be displayed so
that employees get higher skills than previously possessed skills so that they
can understand their responsibilities, roles and functions in the world of
work. Employees are expected to achieve higher levels of performance through
career development.
This study is designed to determine the
factors that affect employee performance which are described in 4 problem formulations,
namely (1)) How career development affects employee performance at PT. PLN
(Persero) UP3 Bojonegoro Area? (2) How does career development affect the
motivation of PT. PLN (Persero) UP3 Bojonegoro Area? (3) How does motivation
affect employee performance at PT. PLN (Persero) UP3 Bojonegoro Area? (4) Does
motivation mediate the effect of career development on employee performance of
PT. PLN (Persero) UP3 Bojonegoro Area?
This study uses a type of quantitative
research survey approach with 3 research variables, namely the independent
variable (Independent variable) is career development (X1), motivation (X2),
and employee performance (Y) as the dependent variable (Dependent variable).
Determination of the population in this study are employees who work at PT. PLN
(Persero) Customer Service Implementation Unit for the Bojonegoro Area amounted
to 135 people. the sample that became the object of research, amounted to 57
people. To study the sample size of the population we use the Slovin formula.
This type of data research uses primary data and secondary data. Types of data
collection using questionnaires, interviews, observations, documentation. Data
analysis used PLS (Partial Least Square) analysis.
The results of hypothesis testing can be
concluded as follows: 1) Career development has a positive effect on the
performance of PT. PLN (Persero) UP3 Bojonegoro Area so that H1 is accepted . 2) Career development has
a positive effect on the motivation of PT. PLN (Persero) UP3 Bojonegoro Area so
that H2 is accepted . 3) Motivation
has a positive effect on employee performance at PT. PLN (Persero) UP3
Bojonegoro Area so that H3 is accepted .
4) Motivation mediates the effect of career development on employee performance
of PT. PLN (Persero) UP3 Bojonegoro Area so H4 is accepted .
