TEACHING MATERIAL'S DEVELOPMENT OF MIND MAPPING TO INCREASE CAPABILITIES OF READING COMPREHENSION IN HISTORICAL NARRATIVE TEKS TEKS FOR FIFTH GRADE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL'S STUDENTS
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kevalidan, kepraktisan dan keefektifan bahan ajar mind mapping untuk meningkatkan membaca pemahaman teks narasi sejarah siswa kelas V sekolah dasar, pada tema peristiwa dalam kehidupan; dan untuk mendeskripsikan keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa setelah penggunaan bahan ajar mind mapping. Penelitian ini mengacu pada model ADDIE. Subjek penelitian pengembangan ini adalah siswa kelas V SDN Pucang 3 Sidoarjo. Uji coba dilakukan dengan menggunakan model one grub pretest-postest. Pengumpulan data menggunakan angket, pengamatan, dan tes. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) Hasil pengembangan bahan ajar mind mapping (2) Kualitas produk bahan ajar mind mapping dan perangkat pembelajaran pada aspek kevalidan sebesar 87,22% (3) Kualitas produk pengembangan berdasarkan aspek kepraktisan yang meliputi hasil pengamatan guru dan siswa saat pembelajaran menggunakan bahan ajar mind mapping sebesar 93,22%, (4) bahan ajar mind mapping dikembangkan efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan persentase keterampilan membaca pemahaman mencapai 93,49%.dan hasil belajar melaui perbandingan pretest dan postest pada uji coba skala kecil menunjukkan harga t-statistik = 72.917 > t-tabel = 2.306 dan skala dengan uji t yang menunjukkan harga t-statistik = 17.538 > t-tabel = 1.697. Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa keterampilan membaca pemahaman teks narasi sejarah siswa kelas V mengalami peningkatan setelah menggunakan bahan ajar mind mapping.
The purpose of this study is to describe of validity, practicality and the effectiveness of mind mapping as teaching material. It is to increase reading comprehension of historical narrative text for fifth graders, on the theme of the life events; and to describe the skills of student’s reading comprehension after using of mind mapping as teaching materials. This research refers to the ADDIE model. The subjects of this development research were the fifth grade students of SDN Pucang 3 Sidoarjo . The trial was conducted using one group pretest-posttest model. The data collection by using questionnaires, observations, and tests. Mechanical collection of data using qualitative and quantitative techniques. The research showed that (1) the results of the mind mapping materials teaching’s development (2) 87 , 22 % for the quality product of mind mapping materials teaching and the validity aspect of device learning (3) The quality of development product is based on the practicality aspect that includes observations results of teachers and students time learning to use teaching materials mind mapping amounted to 93.22% , (4) mind mapping teaching materials developed effective in improving skills of student’s reading comprehension. It is evidenced by the percentage of reading comprehension’s skills reached 93.49% and the results of learning through comparison of pretest and post-test on the small scale test trial show the value of t- statistic = 72 917> t table = 2.306 and the scale of the t-test which shows the value of t- statistic = 17,538> t- table = 1,697. From the results of this study it can concluded that the reading skills of the fifth grade students' reading comprehension of historical narrative text have increased after using mind mapping teaching materials.
