STUDY OF THE EXISTENCE OF RICKSHAW PULLERS IN BOJONEGORO DISTRICT, BOJONEGORO REGENCY
Munculnya sarana transportasi berbasis online
menciptakan persaingan terhadap transportasi konvensional
seperti becak, dimana minat masyarakat mulai beralih kepada
transportasi online. Meskipun penumpang becak mengalami
banyak penurunan, namun masih ada beberapa penarik becak di
Kabupaten Bojonegoro yang tetap menggantungkan hidupnya
dengan profesi ini. Maka dikhawatirkan apabila eksistensi penarik
becak melemah maka akan mengganggu perekonomian penarik
becak tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui
karakteristik penarik becak, dan strategi bertahan yang dilakukan
penarik becak dalam mempertahankan eksistensinya di
Kecamatan Bojonegoro.
Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah
metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif dan termasuk
pada jenis penelitian survei dengan menggunakan analisis
deskriptif dengan persentase sederhana. Sampel penelitian adalah
seluruh penarik becak yang berjumlah 58 penarik becak dengan
rincian 38 di pangkalan Pasar Kota Bojonegoro, 15 di pangkalan
Terminal Rajekwesi Bojonegoro, dan di pangkalan Stasiun Kereta
Api Bojonegoro yaitu sebanyak 5 penarik becak. Penelitian ini
menggunakan instrumen penelitian berupa kuesioner (angket).
Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan karakteristik penarik
becak di Kabupaten Bojonegoro yaitu sebanyak 55% berusia >60
tahun, 60% telah bekerja selama >30 tahun, riwayat pendidikan
48% adalah lulusan SD/sederajat, 81% mengaku tidak memiliki
keahlian lain sehingga sebanyak 97% mereka memilih untuk
menjadikan profesi penarik becak sebagai pekerjaan utama. Hasil
penelitian yang terakhir menunjukkan strategi aktif sebanyak
45,81%, strategi pasif sebanyak 92,76% dan strategi jaringan
sebanyak 52,01%.

The emergence of online-based transportation means has created
competition against conventional transportation such as pedicabs, where
people's interest is starting to shift to online transportation. Even though
pedicab passengers have decreased a lot, there are still a number of pedicab
drivers in Bojonegoro Regency who still depend on this profession for
their living. So it is feared that if the existence of rickshaw pullers
weakens, it will disrupt the economy of rickshaw pullers. This research
aims to determine the characteristics of rickshaw pullers, and the survival
strategies used by rickshaw pullers to maintain their existence in
Bojonegoro District.
The method used in this study is a quantitative method with a
descriptive approach and is included in the type of survey research using
descriptive analysis with simple percentages. The research sample was all
rickshaw pullers, totaling 58 rickshaw pullers with details of 38 at the
Pasar Kota Bojonegoro base, 15 at the Bojonegoro Rajekwesi Terminal
base, and at the Bojonegoro Train Station base, namely 5 rickshaw pullers.
This stuy used a research instrument in the form of a questionnaire.
The results of this study indicate the characteristics of rickshaw
pulers in Bojonegoro Regency, namely as many as 55% are aged >60
years old, 60% have worked for >30 years, 48% eucational background is
elementary school graduates / equivalent, 81% admit that they have no
other skills so that as many as 97% of them chose to make the profession
of a rickshaw puller his main job. The result of the last study showed an
active strategy of 45.81%, a passive strategy of 92.76% and a network
strategy of 52.01%.
