Suatu sastra mempunyai beberapa fungsi penting dalam masyarakat Misalnya sebagai alat berkomunikasi. Namun, pembelajaran sastra sekarang sangat memprihatinkan, khususnya pembelajaran sastra di sekolah menengah atas. Kurangnya pengenalan mengenai sastra tersebut tidak menutup kemungkinan kurangnya juga minat siswa untuk mempelajari serta membaca sebuah sastra khususnya sastra Jepang. Misalnya di SMKN 10 Surabaya khususnya di kelas UPW 1 sebagai subjek penelitian, tidak pernah mendapat pelajaran sastra, dan dalam proses belajar mengajar selalu berpacu dengan modul atau buku teks. Oleh karena itu, melihat latar belakang yang telah dijelaskan, peneliti mengembangkan Mebupi sebagai media untuk memperkenalkan cerita rakyat Jepang tentang Tsuru No Ongaeshi 『つ る の お ん が が え し』.

            Dalam penelitian ini, digunakan teori pengembangan dari Sugiyono. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas UPW 1 SMKN 10 Surabaya. Hasil penelitian adalah: validasi dari ahli materi diperoleh 94%, tergoloong dalam kriteria sangat baik. Sedangkan hasil validasi dari ahli media mendapat skor dengan 93,33% yaitu jika dilihat dari tabel kriteria tergolong sangat baik. Sedangkan untuk hasil respon siswa pada tes pertama mendapatkan hasil 79,71%, tes kedua mendapatkan hasil 86,4% yang skornya termasuk dalam kategori sangat kuat. Dengan begitu, hasil akhir dari penelitian ini menghasilkan media Mebupi yang cocok untuk mengenalkancerita rakyat Jepang Tsuru No Ongaeshi 『つ る の お ん が が え』, serta meningkatkan minat siswa terutama dalam bahasa Jepang.

A literature has several important functions in society. For example as a tool to communicate.  However, the learning of literature now is risk. especially the learning of literature in high schools. The lack of introduction to literature does not rule out the lack of interest in students to learn and read a literature, especially Japanese literature. For example in SMKN 10 Surabaya especially in first class UPW 1 used as a research subject, never received a lesson in literature, and in the process of teaching and learning is always racing with modules or textbooks. Therefore, look at the background that has been described, the researcher developed Mebupi as a medium to introduce Japanese folklore of Tsuru No Ongaeshi 『つるのおんがえし』.

In this research, used the theory of development from Sugiyono. The subjects of this study were students in first class of  UPW 1 SMKN 10 Surabaya. the results of the research are: the point of the validation from the subject experts obtained 94%, which is good points based on the criteria. While the results of the validation from the media experts got a score with 93.33% which is if the number seen in the table is classified as very good criteria. While for the results of student responses in first test get results of 79.71%,second test get results 86,4% which scores are included in the very strong category. That way, the final results of this study produce Mebupi media that are suitable for the introduction of Japanese folklore Tsuru No Ongaeshi 『つるのおんがえし』, as well as increasing student interest in reading especially in Japanese.
