Berita hoax merupakan informasi yang diberikan seseorang melalui media akan tetapi informasi tersebut hanya sebuah opini seseorang atau kelompok yang tidak bisa dibuktikan kebenarnya. Berita Hoax yang disengaja akan membuat masyarakat merasa tidak aman, tidak nyaman, dan kebingungan. Perkembangan berita Hoax di media sosial semula dilakukan untuk sarana pembulian. Namun, perkembangan selanjutnya, berita Hoax dimanfaatkan sebagai alat black campaign di pesta demokrasi yang memengaruhi persepsi pemilih terutama pemilih muda. Tahun 2019 merupakan tahun politik di negara Indonesia karena dilaksanakan pemilihan presiden dan wakil presiden sehingga hal tersebut membuat berita hoax tentang calon presiden di media sosial banyak tersebar. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan respon pemilih muda di Surabaya terhadap berita hoax media sosial dalam pilpres 2019. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah berupa angket tertutup. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini ialah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan menggunakan rumus deskriptif dalam persentase.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa respon pemilih muda terhadap berita hoax media sosial dalam pilpres 2019 di Surabaya secara umum tergolong netral. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan hasil skor rata-rata respon pemilih muda terhadap berita hoax media sosial dalam pilpres 2019 di Surabaya yaitu 87,46. Jika dilihat dari respon kognitif atau pengetahuan yang dimiliki pemilih muda terhadap berita hoax media sosial dalam pilpres 2019 di Surabaya tergolong dalam kategori kritis dengan skor rata-rata 30,54. Selain itu respon afektif atau perasaan yang dimiliki pemilih muda terhadap berita hoax media sosial dalam pilpres 2019 di Surabaya tergolong dalam kategori kritis dengan skor rata-rata 30,74. Serta respon konatif atau tindakan dimiliki pemilih muda terhadap berita hoax media sosial dalam pilpres 2019 di Surabaya tergolong dalam kategori tidak kritis dengan skor rata-rata 25,48.

Hoax news is information provided by someone through the media but the information is only an opinion of a person or group that cannot be proven true. Intentional Hoax news will make people feel insecure, uncomfortable, and confused. The development of Hoax news on social media was originally carried out for rounding facilities. However, further developments, Hoax news was used as a black campaign tool in democratic parties that influenced the perception of voters, especially young voters. 2019 is a political year in the country of Indonesia because of the presidential and vice-presidential elections so that the hoax news about presidential candidates on social media is widely spread. The purpose of this study is to describe the response of young voters in Surabaya to news on social media hoaxes in the 2019 presidential election. The research method uses a quantitative approach with a type of descriptive research. The data collection technique used in this study is a closed questionnaire. The data analysis technique in this study is descriptive quantitative using a descriptive formula in percentage.
The results showed that the response of young voters to news on social media hoaxes in the 2019 presidential election in Surabaya was generally neutral. his is evidenced by the results of the average score of young voters' responses to news on social media hoaxes in the 2019 presidential election in Surabaya, which is 87,46. When viewed from the cognitive response or knowledge held by young voters on the news of social media hoaxes in the 2019 presidential election in Surabaya, they are categorized as critical with an average score of 30,54. In addition, the affective response or feelings of young voters towards the news on social media hoaxes in the 2019 presidential election in Surabaya are categorized as critical with an average score of 30,74. As well as the conative response or actions of young voters on the news of social media hoaxes in the 2019 presidential election in Surabaya are classified as neutral categories with an average score of 25,48.
