Bimbingan dan konseling di sekolah memiliki peran dalam upaya menurunkan dampak stres akademik yang terjadi pada siswa. Berdasarkan hasil studi pendahuluan yang dilakukan di SMPN 3 Mojokerto didapatkan hasil bahwa siswa kelas VIII memiliki beberapa permasalahan stres akademik yang ditandai dengan masalah belajar. Beberapa diantaranya bermain HP saat mata pelajaran berlangsung, tidur saat jam pelajaran berlangsung, berbincang bersama teman yang tidak ada kaitannya dengan pelajaran saat jam pelajaran, dan suka menendang barang disekitar ketika di marahi terkait nilai pelajaran oleh orangtua. Dari beberapa permasalahan diatas dilatar belakangi oleh tuntutan akademik keluarga, lingkungan sekitar dan sekolah yang masing-masing oleh mereka diasumsikan terlalu tinggi sehingga hal tersebut dianggap menjadi beban. Mengetahui ciri-ciri perilaku yang muncul menandakan bahwa siswa kelas VIII SMPN 3 Mojokerto sedang mengalami stres akademik.
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui penerapan dari teknik expressive writing untuk mengurangi stres akademik pada siswa kelas VIII. Lokasi penelitian ini bertempat di SMPN 3 Mojokerto, dengan mengambil subjek siswa kelas VIII-B. Pengambilan subjek dilakukan dengan teknik non random sampling jenis purposive sampling.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan lima diantara enam subjek mengalami perubahan kategori stres akademik “Tinggi” menjadi “Sedang”dan penurunan skor post-test pada 6 subjek yaitu GF 19 poin, ASB 22 poin, SMA 15 poin, RKN 21 poin, CSR 20 poin, dan NBP 11 poin. Berdasarkan output Test Statistic, diketahui Asymp.Sig. (2-tailed) bernilai 0,028. Dapat dilihat 0,028 < 0,05 maka dapat dinyatakan bahwa H0 ditolak. Artinya teknik expressive writing dapat mengurangi stres akademik pada siswa kelas VIII-B SMPN 3 Mojokerto.

Guidance and counseling in schools has a role in efforts to reduce stress that occurs on students. Based on the results of a preliminary study conducted at SMPN 3 Mojokerto, the results of 8th grade students have several academic stress problems marked by learning problems. Some of the time playing cellphones during the course of the lesson, sleeping during class hours, talking with friends who have no discussion with the lessons during class hours, and like to kick things see the compilation in the scold related to the value of the lesson with help. From some of the considerations above by each academic environment and the environment around each of them is assumed to be too high so this is considered to be a burden. SMPN 3 Mojokerto is improving academic stress.
The purpose of this study was to determine the application of expressive writing techniques to reduce academic stress in 8th grade students. The location of this study at SMPN 3 Mojokerto, taking the subject of class VIII-B. Subject taking is done by non random sampling technique type of purposive samplin.
The results showed five of the six subjects experienced a change in the "High" academic stress category to "Medium" and a decrease in post-test scores on 6 subjects namely GF 19 points, ASB 22 points, SMA 15 points, RKN 21 points, CSR 20 points, and NBP 11 points. Based on the Test Statistic output, it is known Asymp.Sig. (2-tailed) worth 0.028. Can be seen 0.028 <0.05, it can be stated that H0 is rejected. This means that expressive writing techniques can reduce academic stress on class VIII-B students of SMPN 3 Mojokerto.
