In this study,
it aims to examine how athletes develop in the Gladiator Athletic Club in
various ways, namely knowing the organizational structure, how to recruit
athletes and assistant coaches, facilities and infrastructure, funding systems
and achievements. This type of research uses qualitative descriptive research
using the SWOT (strength, weakness, opportunity, threat) analysis method.
Sources of research data taken from data collection techniques in the form of
interviews and observations at the club.
The results of
the study that can be concluded, (1) strengths include: IAAF licensed head
coach, adequate infrastructure, has three experienced assistants, (2) weakness
includes: non-standard running trajectory, lack of motivation of athletes,
there are still many athletes who underestimate cooling, (3) opportunity
(opportunity) to have high support to participate in provincial, national and
international championships, to produce outstanding athletes with the intervention
of sport science, (4) threats include: lack of supervision after the training
program as well as during cooling off, irregular exercise schedule and lack of
nutritional supervision for athletes
