This research is a developmental research aimed to
produce a learning model feasible to enhance junior students’ critical thinking
skills. The feasibility of the learning model produced is measured based on
validity, practicality, dan effectiveness. This research is developed based on
Plomp’s rule of development. The learning model developed through this research
names PBLSA, which roots from a learning model PBL which is integrated with
self-assessment. This model has syntax
as follows: 1) Orientation to problem, analysis of problem statement and
hypothesis, 2) Organizing students to learn, reviewing experiments design 3)
Independent and group experiment, reviewing feasibility of data for hypothesis
test, 4) developing ang presenting the result of experiment, evaluating and
making strategy of learning, 5) Analysis and evaluation of proses of problem
solving. There were 32 students engaged as subject of the research during trial
study, and 65 others on the extended study. Validity test was used to test the validity of the model
done by three validators . result showed that PBLSA Model developed is very
valid, both for content as well as constrct. Observation done by two observers
showed that PBLSA Model is very practical. Practicality is measured based on
feasibility of learning process, students’ activity, and students’ responses.
Data of feasibility of learning process were collected through observation
method, whereas questionaire method was used to collect students’ responses
data. On the limited study the feasibiity of learning process and students’
activity attain very good cathegory, whereas students’ responses have very
strong cathegory. The effectiveness of the model is measured using test method
with critical thinking indicators: explanation, analysis, inference,
interpretation, evaluation. On the
limited trial study students’ critical thinking enhance with the N-gain of fair criteria. It can be concluded that PBLSA
Model of Learning developed through this research is feasible to enhance
students’ ctitical thinking skills.
