Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keefektifan model pembelajaran guided-inquiry dengan problem based learning untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik kelas XI SMAN Kesamben pada materi Optik Geometri. Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan metode penelitian true-experimental dan desain penelitian menggunakan control group pre-test and post-test design, dengan subyek penelitian sebanyak 96 peserta didik. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan berupa lembar pengamatan keterlaksanaan pembelajaran, lembar tes berpikir kritis (pre-test dan post-test). Data yang terkumpul dianalisis menggunakan analisis lembar keterlaksanaan, uji t-independent, uji t berpasangan, dan perhitungan n-gain. Berdasarkan analisis data dapat disimpulkan bahwa (i) Keterlaksanaan pembelajaran dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran Guided Inquiry pada kelas eksperimen 1 dan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning di kelas eksperimen 2 berada pada kategori sangat baik. (ii) Terdapat perbedaan peningkatan berpikir kritis peserta didik kelas eksperimen 1, kelas eksperimen 2, dan kelas kontrol, dengan n-gain berturut-turut sebesar 0,37 (berkategori sedang), 0,47 (berkategori sedang) dan 0,23 (berkategori rendah) (iii) Model pembelajaran problem based learning lebih efektif dibandingkan dengan model pembelajaran guided inquiry dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik pada materi Optik Geometri.

This research aims to describe the effectiveness of the increase in critical thinking skills among teaching model guided-inquiry learning model of problem-based learning that is given to students of class XI SMAN Kesamben the geometry of optical material. Type of research is descriptive quantitative research, methods and the true-experimental research design using a control group pre-test and post-test design, the study subjects were 96 learners. Research instrument used in the form of observation sheet implementation learning, critical thinking test sheet (pre-test and post-test). Collected data was analyzed using analysis of enforceability sheet, test two parties, paired t test, and the n-gain calculation. Based on data analysis can be concluded that(I) There are differences in the increase in critical thinking learners experimental class 1, class 2 experimental and control classes, with n-consecutive gain of 0.37 (medium category), 0.47 (medium category) and 0.23 ( low category) (ii) learning model of problem-based learning is more effective than the guided inquiry learning model in improving critical thinking skills of students in Geometry Optics material.(ii) implementation learning by implementing Guided Inquiry learning model the experimental class 1 and the learning model Problem Based Learning in the experimental class 2 provide results that are in the very good category.
