Sedulur sikep atau masyarakat Samin merupakan fenomena kultural yang memiliki keunikan sekaligus sarat makna. Orang Samin terkenal akan keluguannya, polos, dan apa adanya sehingga terkesan ”dungu”. Ajaran Samin begitu populer sebagai simbol perlawanan rakyat terhadap penjajah. Menurut sejarah, ajaran Samin dikembangkan oleh Samin Surosentiko yang lahir pada tahun 1859 di Desa Ploso Kedhiren, Sedulur sikep atau masyarakat Samin mempunyai beberapa ciri dan prinsip. Pertama, konsep utama agama Adam sebagai hidup (urip), Kedua, semua aktivitas manusia dimaksudkan untuk dua hal, yaitu tatane wong, mengelola hidup dengan melakukan sikep rabi (sexual intercouse), Ketiga, wong, terdiri dari wong Jowo, yang jujur, menepati janji, dan tidak melakukan kejahatan. Penelitian ini merupakan bentuk penelitian dan pengembangan (R&D) dengan menggunakan Model 4D (Define, Design, Development, and Dissemination). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat Sedulur Sikep Samin mempunyai banyak kearifan lokal (local wisdom) antara lain adanya sikap rukun dan sumeleh, memberikan keteladanan sikap yang baik, mempunyai prinsip dasar harapan hidup seger-waras, rukun, lan becik apek sak rinane-sak wengine, prinsip hidup dalam berinteraksi sosial demunung te-e dewe (yang hanya miliknya), mempunyai pantangan hidup untuk tidak bedok (menuduh), tidak colong (mencuri), tidak pethil (mengambil barang), tidak jumput, nemu wae ora keno (menemukan barang menjadi pantangan), dan berprinsip pada ajaran sikep berupa 20 anggerangger pratikel (20 pantangan berprilaku).
