The Dlewer ritual is a traditional ritual of the Kandangan village community which aims as an expression of gratitude for the blessings given, as well as gratitude for the blessings of fertility. Tayub art in Senduro sub-district, Kandangan village, is always held every 1 year in the month of Suro. This research includes several formulations, namely how the form and how the symbolic meaning in the presentation of tayub dlewer in the dlewer ritual of the kandangan community of Senduro district, Lumajang district. The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze the form and symbolic meaning of tayub in the dlewer ritual of the kandangan community of Senduro sub-district, Lumajang district.
Based on the background presented, the problem formulations in this study are; (1) What is the form of the Tayub Dance in Kandangan Village in the Dlewer Ritual, Senduro District, Lumajang Regency ?, (2) What is the Meaning of Tayub Dance in the Dlewer Ritual in Kandangan Village, Senduro District, Lumajang Regency? This research uses qualitative research methods in a descriptive approach. The supporting theory in presenting forms uses Soedarsono's Form Theory and the Theory of Meaning using Pierce's theory. The research location is in Kandangan Village, Senduro District, Lumajang Regency, using data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. Test the validity of the data in this study using source triangulation, method triangulation and time triangulation.
In the results of this research, this thesis identifies the shape and symbolic meaning of the tayub dance by the kandangan community of Senduro sub-district, Lumajang district in the dlewer traditional ritual. The presentation form includes the structure of the presentation of tayub art in the traditional dlewer ritual and the supporting elements of the presentation, among others; fashion, music and motion. The symbolic meaning itself consists of the symbolic meaning emphasized in the dlewer ritual, the symbolic meaning of movement in the dlewer ritual.
This thesis research needs to conclude that tayub has a very important role in the implementation of the dlewer traditional ritual, especially in the saweran and coin toss sections. The people of Kandangan village themselves think that giving saweran and throwing coins to the tandak is a form of expression of their gratitude for the blessings and salvation that has been given by the creator. The community also considers the art of tayub as an intermediary for delivering prayers or requests to God for all the blessings given. Therefore, it is better if the Tayub art is preserved so that it does not become extinct and is preserved until now.
