Kesiapan karier menjadi hal krusial bagi siswa SMK, terutama di bidang tata kecantikan kulit dan rambut yang terus berkembang seiring meningkatnya permintaan tenaga terampil di industri kecantikan. Untuk itu, aspek internal seperti metakognisi dan minat bekerja perlu dikaji dalam kaitannya dengan kesiapan karier siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) menganalisis pengaruh metakognisi terhadap kesiapan pemilihan karier siswa SMK konsentrasi keahlian tata kecantikan kulit dan rambut, (2) menganalisis pengaruh minat bekerja terhadap kesiapan pemilihan karier, dan (3) menganalisis pengaruh simultan metakognisi dan minat bekerja terhadap kesiapan karier di industri kecantikan.
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode survei. Populasi sekaligus sampel penelitian berjumlah 98 siswa kelas XI dari SMKN 1 Lamongan dan SMKN 6 Surabaya Populasi penelitina ini meliputi 43 SMK yang tersebar di Provinsi Jawa Timur yang memiliki Jurusan Kecantikan Kulit dan Rambut, sedangkan sampel penelitian berjumlah 98 siswa kelas XI dari SMKN 1 Lamongan dan SMKN 6 Surabaya yang ditentukan melaluki metode purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan angket tertutup dengan skala Likert, dan dianalisis menggunakan Structural Equation Modeling berbasis Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) dengan software SmartPLS 4.0.
Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa: 1) metakognisi tidak memiliki pengaruh signifikan secara langsung terhadap kesiapan karier (t = 0,190; p = 0,849); 2) sedangkan minat bekerja berpengaruh signifikan dan positif terhadap kesiapan karier siswa (t = 4,514; p = 0,000); 3) Secara simultan, metakognisi dan minat bekerja menjelaskan 66,7% variabilitas kesiapan karier, termasuk kategori sedang-kuat. Temuan menarik dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa meskipun pengaruh langsung metakognisi tidak signifikan, kehadirannya tetap memperkuat model struktural dan dapat berperan sebagai variabel mediasi atau moderator.
Penelitian ini merekomendasikan integrasi penguatan minat kerja dalam pembelajaran vokasional, serta pengembangan keterampilan reflektif berbasis metakognisi agar siswa lebih siap menghadapi tantangan industri kecantikan.

Career readiness is a crucial aspect for vocational high school (SMK) students, particularly in the field of beauty therapy, which continues to grow in response to the increasing demand for skilled professionals in the beauty industry. Accordingly, internal factors such as metacognition and work interest warrant investigation in relation to students career readiness.
This study aims to: (1) analyze the influence of metacognition on the career decision-making readiness of vocational students majoring in beauty therapy, (2) examine the influence of work interest on career readiness, and (3) assess the combined effect of metacognition and work interest on career readiness in the beauty industry.
This is a quantitative study employing a survey method. The population consists of 43 vocational high schools across East Java that offer a specialization in beauty care, while the sample comprises 98 eleventh-grade students from SMKN 1 Lamongan and SMKN 6 Surabaya, selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using a closed-ended questionnaire based on a Likert scale and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling with Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) through SmartPLS 4.0 software.
The results showed that 1) metacognition did not have a significant direct effect on career readiness (t = 0.190; p = 0.849); 2) whereas work interest had a significant and positive effect (t = 4.514; p = 0.000); 3) together, metacognition and work interest accounted for 66.7% of the variance in career readiness, which falls within the moderate-to-strong category. An interesting finding in this study is that although metacognition did not have a direct significant effect, its presence enhanced the structural model and may function as a mediating or moderating variabel.
The study recommends integrating work interest development into vocational learning and fostering metacognitive reflective skills to better prepare students for the challenges of the beauty industry.
