Particularity of Flow in Rap Music

Musik rap akhir-akhir ini berkembang dengan pesat. Namun, dengan ketenarannya tersebut, masih banyak orang yang belum sepenuhnya memahami tentang musik rap, khususnya salah satu aspek fundamental dari musik rap yaitu flow. Dalam artikel ini, akan diuraikan pengertian flow dengan menjelaskan tiga parameter dasar pembangun flow, antara lain: ritme, rima, dan nada vokal menggunakan metode kualitatif. Ritme flow rapper seperti halnya teknik scatting dalam musik jazz membangun sebuah lapisan baru di atas musik latar sebuah lagu. Selanjutnya, rima yang menambah kekuatan lirik rapper sekaligus merupakan tolok ukur kreativitas rapper dalam mengolah kata. Nada vokal yang merupakan titik partikular selanjutnya merujuk kepada karakteristik suara rapper yang dapat memberikan kesan tertentu dalam menyampaikan isi lirik.

Rap music has grown rapidly in recent years. However, with this fame, there are still many people who do not fully understand about rap music, especially one of the fundamental aspects of rap music, namely flow. In this article, we will describe the meaning of flow by explaining the three basic parameters of building flow, including: rhythm, rhyme, and vocal pitch using qualitative methods. The rapper's flow rhythm as well as the scatting technique in jazz builds a new layer on the background music of a song. Furthermore, the rhyme that adds strength to the rapper's lyrics is also a measure of the rapper's creativity in word processing. Vocal pitch which is another particular point then refers to the characteristics of the rapper's voice that can give a certain impression in conveying the contents of the lyrics.
