There are traditional and modern scrubs. Based on the results of
interviews, traditional scrubs are still popular among women cause the making
of traditional scrubs is easier than modern scrubs. Traditional scrubs made
from spices and coarse-textured flour are used by rubbing gently into the body
to cleanse the skin from dirt. Based on these benefits, the traditional scrubs
from ant nests and black tea leaves are made with the basic ingredients of rice
flour.
Ant nests and
black tea leaves have the highest antioxidant activity, which is useful for
preventing skin damage caused by free radicals. While rice flour in traditional
scrubs is useful for removing dirt on the skin which comes from dead skin
cells. The purpose of this research are to find out: 1) the effect of the
proportion of ant nest extract and black tea leaf extract on traditional scrubs
(which are made from rice flour) organoleptics which includes aroma, color,
texture, adhesiveness, and panelist’s hedonic scale. 2) the best shelf life of
traditional scrubs.
This type of
research is experimental research, with each proportion, X1 = 6g:60g, X2 =
4g:50g, and X3 = 2g:40g. Data collection uses the observation method through
organoleptic tests, conducted by 30 panelists. Organoleptic test results were
processed by the SPSS program using a one way anova test and duncan test.
The value of F hitung from the summary table of one way
anova, aroma (127,973), color (157,950), texture (79,947), adhesion (97,949), and
panelist’s hedonic scale (34,182) with a value of p = 0,000. So, the value of p
< 0.05, which means there are significant mean differences in the samples
X1, X2, and X3 include aroma, color, texture, stickiness, and panelist’s
hedonic scale and (Ho) is rejected, so the research is continued with duncan
test.
Based on the
results of the duncan test, there is a significant effect on the proportion of
ant nest extract and black tea leaf extract with the basic ingredients of rice
flour on the results of traditional scrubs, which include aroma, color,
texture, stickiness, and panelist’s hedonic scale. From the results of the
duncan test, concluded that X2 is the best sample cause it has the highest mean
value (3.57), which is quite sharply scented, cream color, quite rough texture,
and sufficient sticky power. Based on the results of microbiological tests,
3,8x10 3 coll/g of
bacteria were found in sample X2 on day 1. So, sample X2 can only be used for 1
day cause microbes cannot be more than 10 3 coll/g according to BPOM regulations.
