Puteri Indonesia (The Puteri Indonesia
Foundation) is one of the foundations for organizing prestigious beauty pageant
in Indonesia. The Puteri Indonesia beauty pageant was held to select woman
figures who have 3B criteria (Brain, Beauty and Behavior). The winners will get
the opportunity to become ambassadors in the country as well as represent
Indonesia in the world beauty pageants. Founded in 1992, Yayasan Puteri
Indonesia has succeeded in making achievements in world beauty pageants. The
main topics of this research are (1) the history and record of the achievements
of Puteri Indonesia in 1996 – 2019; (2) The role of the Puteri Indonesia
Foundation in achieving achievements in world beauty pageants; and (3)
Indonesia's impact on the achievements of Puteri Indonesia in the world beauty
pageantt. This study uses a historical research method which consists of 4
stages, namely heuristics which is carried out by collecting sources from the
Medayu Agung Surabaya Library in the form of contemporary printed newspapers
and magazines found in Jawa Pos, Kompas, Surabaya Post, Surya newspapers as
well as Liberty and Tempo magazines. Documents in the form of a collection of
photos and videos of the organizers or historical actors through the internet
network accessed from the websites of Puteri Indonesia, Miss Universe, Miss
International, Miss Supranational, Miss Grand International and Global
Beauties, as well as Instagram and Youtube. Second, critique the source to
verify its authenticity by matching one source to another. Third, the interpretation
stage is carried out to examine the contents of the sources that have been
obtained. The last stage is historiography or writing history. From this
research, it can be seen that the Yayasan Puteri Indonesia has played a major role in supporting Puteri
Indonesia in achieving achievements in world beauty events by providing
briefings, gathering support for the government, and inviting world queens to
share tips for successful achievements in international events. So that this
achievement has an impact on domestic culture and products which are
increasingly recognized by the world, resulting in an increase in tourist
visits to Indonesia every year. From 2014 to 2019 the increase in the number of
tourist continued, which was 8,5% from 2014 to 2015, 12,7% to
2016, 21,7% to 2017, 12,8% to 2018 and 1,8% to 2019.
