Correlation between Macrozoobenthos Diversity Index and Water Quality of
Pasuruan Juri River Polluted by Chicken Slaughterhouse Waste
Sungai Welang merupakan sungai yang mengalir dari Pegunungan Arjuna
dan bermuara di pantai Utara Pulau Jawa yang memiliki beberapa anak sungai salah
satunya yaitu Sungai Juri. Berdasarkan letaknya Sungai Juri melewati banyak
permukiman sehingga banyak sampah yang dibuang di aliran Sungai Juri, salah
satunya yaitu limbah pemotongan ayam yang dibuang langsung di salah satu aliran
sungai Juri. Limbah pemotongan ayam berbahaya untuk lingkungan karena
mengandung banyak senyawa organik yang dapat memberikan dampak bagi kulitas
air sehingga dapat memengaruhi keanekaragaman makrozoobentos di perairan
tersebut. Tujuan penilitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui kualitas air Sungai Juri yang
tercemar limbah ayam potong berdasarkan parameter kimia, biologi, dan fisika dan
indeks keanekaragaman makrozoobentos sesuai dengan PP Nomor 22 Tahun 2021,
Sungai Juri termasuk dalam kelas 3. Makrozoobentos diidentifikasi berdasarkan
karakter morfologinya berdasarkan buku Dharma (2005) dan Edmondson (1966)
serta jurnal terkait identifikasi makrozoobentos yaitu Hernawati (2019),
Jeratthitikul, dkk., (2022), dan Lentge, dkk., (2021). kemudian ditinjau indeks
keanekaragaman menggunakan indeks Shannon Winner. Analisis data
menggunakan analisis statistik deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya
hubungan indeks keanekaragaman makrozoobentos dengan kualitas air yang yaitu
korelasi positif pada parameter suhu, sedangkan parameter pH, DO, BOD, dan
COD menunujukkan adanya korelasi negative. Hal ini menunjukkan adanya bahan
pencemar pada Sungai Juri seperti limbah pemotongan ayam.
Welang River is a river that flows from the Arjuna Mountains and empties
into the North coast of Java Island, which has several tributaries, one of which is
Juri River. Based on its location, the Juri River passes through many settlements so
that a lot of garbage is disposed of in the Juri River flow, one of which is chicken
slaughtering waste which is disposed of directly in one of the Juri river flows.
Chicken slaughtering waste is dangerous for the environment because it contains
many organic compounds that can have an impact on water quality so that it can
affect the diversity of macrozoobenthos in these waters. The purpose of this
research is to determine the water quality of Juri River polluted by slaughterhouse
waste based on chemical, biological, and physical parameters and the
macrozoobenthos diversity index in accordance with PP No. 22 of 2021, Juri River
is included in class 3. Macrozoobenthos were identified based on their
morphological characters based on Dharma (2005) and Edmondson (1966) books
and journals related to macrozoobenthos identification, namely Hernawati (2019),
Jeratthitikul et al, (2022), and Lentge, et al. (2021). then the diversity index was
reviewed using the Shannon Winner index. Data analysis using descriptive
statistical analysis. The results showed a relationship between the
macrozoobenthos diversity index and water quality, namely a positive correlation
in the temperature parameter, while the pH, DO, BOD, and COD parameters
showed a negative correlation. This indicates the presence of pollutants in the Juri
River such as chicken slaughtering waste.
