Perspectives on Sexual Violence in College Students
Sexual violence is an emerging social issue worthy of in-depth study. High cases of sexual violence in Indonesia universities have been in the spotlight over the past few years. Using the phenomenological approach, this qualitative psychological research aims to explore students' perspectives and their conceptual thinking on the sexual violence phenomenon. Data were collected from six Universitas Negeri Surabaya students who have been and/or assisted victims of sexual violence. The Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) conducted gave rise to a number of key themes, namely perspectives on issues, perspective formation, and responses to issues and related phenomenon. The results found from this study are that the depth of understanding of students on the issue of sexual violence is diverse. Their perspectives are formed from the results of learning through the media and socialization carried out by the campus, and experiences as victims and / or companions of victims of sexual violence. Students' perspectives on phenomena related to sexual violence are divided into pros and cons. This study concludes that students' perspectives on sexual violence are diverse and their conceptual thinking about sexual violence was formed from their learning and experiences.
