This study
aims to (1) test the effect of the project based learning model on student's
critical thinking skills. (2) test the effect of the project based on learning
model tobstudent's creative thinking skills. (3) measure the improvement in
student's critical and creative thinking skills with the application of the
project based learning model.
This study
was conducted at SMK Unitomo Surabaya and SMK Mahardhika with the subjects of
the study are 32 students in class XI ANM in each class. This study used the
Nonequivalent Control Group Design research design. The indicators of critical
thinking skills in this study were adapted from Ennis with 5 assessment
aspects, namely elementary clarification, basic support, inference, advance
clarification, and strategy and tactics. Then the indicators of creative
thinking skills in this study were adapted from Lee & Sherrat with three
assessment aspects, namely aspects of novelties, product benefits, and
aesthetics. This study compared two groups and data analysis used the t-test.
The results
of the hypothesis test of this study (1) The Project Based Learning Model has a
significant effect on Student's Critical Thinking Skills on the material in the
making of UV mesh projections and 3-Dimensional surface textures. (2) The Project Based Learning model has a
significant effect on the Creative Thinking Skills of Learners in the material
of making UV mesh projections and 3-Dimensional surface textures. (3) The
Project Based Learning model is effective in improving the Critical and
Creative Thinking Skills of Learners in the material of making UV mesh
projections and 3-Dimensional surface textures. It is suggested that the
Project Based Learning model can be applied into further learning, especially
in the material of making UV mesh projections and 3-Dimensional surface
textures. It is suggested that further research can apply the Project Based
Learning model to other project-based materials.
