REPRESENTASI PERJUANGAN INTELEKTUAL PEREMPUAN  ISLAM DI INDONESIA MELALUI   NOVEL-NOVEL ABIDAH EL KHALIEQY

Representation Of The Intellectual Strunggle Of Islamic Women in Indonesia Through Abidah El Khalieqy's Novels

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan representasi perjuangan intelektual perempuan Islam di Indonesia melalui novel-novel Abidah El Khalieqy. Dalam tujuh novel Abidah  menggambarkan persoalan perempuan yang dihadapkan dengan pemahaman tafsir agama bias gender yang berpadu dengan kebudayaan patriaki. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan dilakukan dengan dokumentasi. Sedangkan teknik analisis data menggunakan hermeneutik Amina Wadud Muhsin. Hasil penelitian pertama menunjukan pada novel Abidah El Khalieqy merepresentasikan perjuangan intelektual perempuan dalam memperoleh pendidikan, representasi perjuangan intelektual perempuan dalam budaya patriaki, dan representasi perjuangan intelektual dalam upaya melawan kekerasan dan pelecehan terhadap perempuan. Adapun hasil penelitian rumusan masalah kedua menunjukkan pada ketujuh novel Abidah El Khalieqy terdapat nilai-nilai pendidikan gender yakni; 1) memperjuangkan keadilan dalam memperoleh pendidikan, 2) memperoleh keadilan dalam lingkup pendidikan, 3) mendapatkan pengajaran dan pendidikan yang tidak bias gender, 4) perlawanan terhadap kekerasan pada perempuan, dan 5) citra perempuan Islam yang cerdas, berani, dan mandiri. Pada penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa perempuan dapat menempatkan diri dalam ranah publik maupun domestik. Implikasi dari penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan warna baru terhadap kajian spiritual dalam konteks sastra yang memuat unsur estetik dari karya sastra sendiri.

The purpose of this study is to describe the representation of the intellectual struggle of Muslim women in Indonesia through the novels of Abidah El Khalieqy. In seven novels, Abidah describes the problems of women who are faced with the understanding of gender-biased religious interpretation combined with patriarchal culture. This type of research is qualitative research. The collection technique is done by documentation. While the data analysis technique uses Amina Wadud Muhsin's hermeneutics. The results of the first study show that Abidah El Khalieqy's novels represent the intellectual struggle of women in obtaining education, the representation of the intellectual struggle of women in patriarchal culture, and the representation of the intellectual struggle in efforts to fight violence and harassment against women. The results of the second research problem formulation show that in the seven novels of Abidah El Khalieqy there are gender education values, namely: 1) fighting for justice in obtaining education, 2) obtaining justice in the scope of education, 3) getting teaching and education that is not gender-biased, 4) fighting against violence against women, and 5) the image of intelligent, brave, and independent Islamic women. This study shows that women can position themselves in the public and domestic spheres. The implications of this research are expected to provide new insights into spiritual studies within a literary context, incorporating aesthetic elements from the literary work itself.
