This study aims to
describe the process of developing mathematics learning tools using a realistic
mathematics approach with the help of manipulative media in the comparison of
grade V elementary school materials. In addition, this study also aims to produce
valid, practical, and effective mathematics learning tools. This research
design is in the form of research and development or Research and Development
(R & D). The development model used is the 4 - D model from Thiagarajan,
Semmel, and Semmel. The learning tools developed include the Learning
Implementation Plan, Student Activity Sheets, Learning Outcomes
Test, and manipulative media. The subjects of this study were students of
Class V SDIT Ibadurrahman, Ciruas District, Serang Regency, Banten Province
with a total of 65 students divided into two classes namely Class V A and Class
V B.
The validity is shown by the results of the
validators assessment of the learning device which includes several aspects
including format, content, and language at a minimum score of 4 with a good
category. Practicality is indicated by the results of the validators
assessment which state that the learning tools developed can be applied in
learning. In addition, the results of observations on the teachers ability to
manage learning based on the assessment of several aspects including
introduction, core activities, cover, classroom atmosphere, and the ability to
manage time in accordance with the available time allocation are at a minimum
score of 4 in a good category. The effectiveness is shown by the observation
that the student activity for each indicator in the learning activity has met
the ideal time criteria with a tolerance of 10%, classical student learning
completeness is fulfilled with a percentage of up to 94%, and the students
response to the learning device is positive, which is more than 75%. students
stated: (1) happy with the learning device; (2) the learning device is new; (3)
can clearly understand the language and writing used; (4) interested in
learning tools.
Based on the results of data
analysis that has been done, it can be concluded that the development of
learning tools in this study produces learning tools that are valid, practical,
and effective.
