Analisis Karaktertistik Campuran Aspal Beton Lapis Aus dengan Menggunakan Kalsium Karbonat sebagai Filler
Characteristics Analysis of Mixed Asphalt Concrete Wearing Course Using Calcium Carbonate as Filler
The quality of the road pavement needs to be considered properly because it functions to support and spread the traffic load which is in line with the growth in the number of motorized vehicles. One of the ways to improve the road pavement quality can be done by substitution of filler. Filler is a component with the smallest percentage besides asphalt but has a critical function of modifying the gradation of aggregate so that the density of the mixture can be increased. Therefore, choosing filler for road pavement construction material must consider cost efficiency without violating the general specifications of Bina Marga in 2018 (Revised 2). One effort to minimize operational costs is to use calcium carbonate (CaCO3) as a substitute for Portland cement. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the effect of using calcium carbonate (CaCO3), which is expected to increase the resistance of asphalt-concrete mixtures. The stages of this research begin with preparing tools and materials, then proceed with examining the physical properties of the materials used, planning for asphalt-concrete mixtures, then making test objects with variations in asphalt content which are 4,6%; 5,1%; 5,6%; 6,1%; and 6,6% to determine the optimum asphalt content (KAO), followed by the manufacture of various fillers with a composition of 0%; 0,4%; 0,8%; 1,2%; 1,6%; and 2,0% by using asphalt penetration 60//70 on the AC-WC mixture. The results showed that the KAO value was obtained at 5,1% asphalt content, and the best filler variation was at 1,2%. The best mixture with the characteristics of stability value is 1512,5 kg; flow 3,6; durability 90,09%; VIM 4,68; VAM 12,02; VFA 61,08%, and MQ 416,3 kg meet Marshall parameters except for aggregate voids (VMA) and voids filled with asphalt (VFA), in accordance with the general specifications of Bina Marga 2018 (Revised 2).
