PENGEMBANGAN UNPLUGGED CODING HEALTHY LIFESTYLE STEPS TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR KRITIS ANAK USIA DINI DI TK KAEWBOOT KUSAKUL SCHOOL THAILAND
DEVELOPMENT OF UNPLUGGED CODING HEALTHY LIFESTYLE STEPS ON THE CRITICAL THINKING ABILITY OF EARLY CHILDHOOD CHILDREN AT KAEWBOOT KUSAKUL SCHOOL THAILAND
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis anak usia dini di TK Kaewboot Kusakul School, Thailand, yang disebabkan oleh pembelajaran yang masih berpusat pada buku paket dan minimnya kegiatan eksploratif yang merangsang penalaran logis anak. Berdasarkan teori perkembangan kognitif Piaget serta indikator kemampuan berpikir kritis Facione (interpretasi, inferensi, dan analisis), penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan media Unplugged Coding Healthy lifestyle steps berupa lembar kerja bertemakan gaya hidup sehat yang dirancang untuk menstimulasi kemampuan berpikir kritis melalui aktivitas konkret dan algoritmik. Metode yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) model ADDIE melalui tahapan analisis, desain, pengembangan, implementasi, dan evaluasi, yang difokuskan pada uji validitas, kepraktisan, dan keefektifan produk. Hasil uji validitas menunjukkan media memperoleh skor 96% dari ahli materi dan 96% dari ahli media, yang dikategorikan sangat layak.
Uji kepraktisan menghasilkan nilai Cohen’s d sebesar 2,17, yang menunjukkan efek praktis yang sangat besar terhadap peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis anak. Selain itu, uji keefektifan memperoleh nilai N-Gain sebesar 0,5478 (kategori sedang) dengan signifikansi 0,000 < 0,05, yang menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis anak secara signifikan. Dengan demikian, Unplugged Coding Healthy lifestyle steps terbukti valid, praktis, dan efektif sebagai media pembelajaran inovatif yang tidak hanya mendukung perkembangan kognitif, tetapi juga menanamkan pemahaman gaya hidup sehat pada anak usia dini.Kata Kunci: Unplugged Coding, gaya hidup sehat, berpikir kritis.
This study was motivated by the low level of critical thinking skills among early childhood learners at Kaewboot Kusakul School in Thailand, primarily caused by teacher-centered instruction dominated by textbook-based activities with minimal exploratory learning opportunities. Grounded in Piaget’s cognitive development theory and Facione’s critical thinking indicators (Interpretation, Inference, and Analysis), this research aimed to develop Unplugged Coding Healthy lifestyle steps — a worksheet-based learning media designed to introduce healthy lifestyle concepts while stimulating children’s logical reasoning through hands-on, algorithmic activities. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), focusing on testing its validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The validation results showed an excellent level of feasibility, with 96% from material experts and 96% from media experts, categorizing the product as highly valid. The practicality test further demonstrated strong results, with a Cohen’s d effect size of 2.17, indicating a very high practical impact.
Moreover, the N-Gain score of 0.5478 (moderate category) and a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 confirmed that children’s critical thinking skills improved significantly after using the media. These findings indicate that Unplugged Coding Healthy lifestyle steps is highly valid, practical, and pedagogically effective, serving not only as an innovative medium to enhance critical thinking but also as a culturally responsive tool to foster healthy lifestyle awareness among young learners in the 21st century.Keywords: Unplugged Coding, healthy lifestyle, critical thinking.
