Sambungan merupakan titik terlemah dalam sambungan kayu khususnya yang masih berupa sambungan konvensional, dimana faktor aman yang digunakan masih cukup tinggi sehingga mengakibatkan kurang hematnya pemakaian kayu. Jenis sambungan kayu bibir miring berkait merupakan sambungan yang banyak di aplikasikan seperti untuk balok (gording) dan kuda-kuda, dimana akan lebih banyak menerima gaya lentur maupun gaya tarik. Panjang sambungan kayu bibir miring berkait memiliki standar panjang sambungan sebesar 2,5h – 3h.
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui panjang efektif sambungan bibir miring berkait balok kayu meranti dan perilaku kerusakan dalam pengujian lentur, dengan acuan sifat fisik dan sifat mekanik kayu meranti. Pengujian lentur menggunakan model 2 tumpuan sendi-rol dengan beban terpusat ditengah bentang. Balok berdimensi 4/6 cm panjang 150 cm dengan 5 variasi panjang sambungan diantaranya: 2h, 2,5h, 2,75h, 3h dan 3,5h pada tengah bentang.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sambungan paling baik adalah variasi panjang sambungan 2,75h dengan kuat lentur 647,06 kg/cm2, diikuti dengan variasi panjang sambungan 2,5h dan 3h dengan kuat lentur 630,47 kg/cm2, sedangkan variasi panjang sambungan 2h dan 3,5h memiliki kuat lentur terendah sebesar 580,69 kg/cm2. Rata-rata perilaku runtuh yang terjadi adalah kerusakan geser, semakin panjang sambungan kerusakan mengarah pada kerusakan lentur.

Connection was the weakest point in wood structures especially that still was conventional connection, while safety factor that was used still high enough resulting in less efficient use of wood. Angle-notched with hooked connection type was a wood connection that were widely applied such as beams (roof beam) and truss frame, which about received bending force and tensile force. Length of angle-notched with hooked connection type has a standard length within 2,5h – 3h.
The purpose of this research was to determine which the effective length of angle-notched with hooked connection type of meranti wood and behavior damaged on bending load experiment, with reference to the physical and mechanical properties of meranti wood. Bending load experiment was used 2 foothold pins and roller with one loaded will applied on the middle of the beams. The beams has measurement 4/6 cm and long 150 cm with has 5 length connection variations type among them: 2h, 2,5h, 2,75h, 3h and 3,5h in the middle of the beams.
The result of the research showed the best connection bas variation in connection length of 2,75h with bending strength value about 647,06 kg/cm2 followed by variation in connection length of 2,5h and 3h type about 630,47 kg/cm2, while variations in connection length of 2h and 3,5h had the lowest bending strength value about 580,69 kg/cm2. The average of behavior damaged of the beams was shear damaged, if getting longer applied of the connection, the behavior damaged is aim to bending damaged.
