THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE ROUND ROBIN BRAINSTORMING COOPERATIVE LEARNING MODEL TO IMPROVE DISCUSSION SKILLS IN EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMPN 20 SURABAYA
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan: 1) penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Round Robin Brainstorming dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berdiskusi pada peserta didik, 2) efektivitas model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Round Robin Brainstorming dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berdiskusi pada peserta didik. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan eksperimen dengan desain eksperimen murni (True Experimental Design) sebagai kerangka metodologinya. Teknik pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan simple random sampling. Populasi penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas VIII SMP Negeri 20 Surabaya dan sampel penelitian ini mencakup dua kelas yaitu kelas VIII E yang terdiri atas 30 peserta didik sebagai kelas eksperimen serta kelas VIII F terdiri atas 30 peserta didik sebagai kelas kontrol. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi melalui performa diskusi dan dokumentasi. Penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Round Robin Brainstorming dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berdiskusi pada peserta didik berjalan dengan baik dibuktikan dengan hasil persentase observasi aktivitas peserta didik sebesar 100%. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Round Robin Brainstorming pada keterampilan berdiskusi mengalami peningkatan. Efektivitas tersebut dibuktikan melalui perbandingan nilai rata-rata pretest dan posttest. Nilai rata-rata pretest kelas kontrol sebesar 69,60 dan posttest 81,97. Rata-rata pretest kelas eksperimen setelah menggunakan model pembelajaran tersebut sebesar 74,93 dan posttest 87,60. Kedua kelas tersebut mengalami peningkatan nilai antara pretest dan posttest, tetapi peningkatan rata-rata nilai kelas eksperimen terjadi lebih besar. Hasil Uji-T diperoleh (18,176 > 2,045) dan (13,32 > 2,045) menunjukkan t0>ttabel. Dengan demikian terdapat pengaruh dari efektivitas model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Round Robin Brainstorming untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berdiskusi pada peserta didik kelas eksperimen.

This study aims to describe: 1) the application of the Round Robin Brainstorming cooperative learning model in improving discussion skills among students, 2) the effectiveness of the Round Robin Brainstorming cooperative learning model in enhancing discussion skills among students. This type of research uses an experimental approach with a pure experimental design (True Experimental Design) as its methodological framework. The sampling technique in this study uses simple random sampling. The population of this research is the students of grade VIII at SMP Negeri 20 Surabaya, and the sample includes two classes: class VIII E consisting of 30 students as the experimental class, and class VIII F consisting of 30 students as the control class. The data collection technique used was observation through discussion performance and documentation. The application of the cooperative learning model of Round Robin Brainstorming type in improving discussion skills among students was effective, as evidenced by the observation activity percentage of students reaching 100%. This study shows that the implementation of the cooperative learning model of Round Robin Brainstorming caused an improvement in discussion skills. The effectiveness was demonstrated through the comparison of the average scores of the pretest and posttest. The average pretest score for the control class was 69.60 and the posttest was 81.97. The average pretest score for the experimental class after using the learning model was 74.93 and the posttest was 87.60. Both classes experienced an increase in scores between the pretest and posttest, but the average score increase in the experimental class was greater. The results of the T-Test showed (18.176 > 2.045) and (13.32 > 2.045), indicating that t0 > ttable. Therefore, there is an effect of the effectiveness of the cooperative learning model of Round Robin Brainstorming to enhance discussion skills among the students in the experimental class.
