Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi anak autis dalam menyampaikan keinginan terhadap benda yang ada di rumah, melalui desain Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) berbasis android di SLB Kabupaten Nganjuk.
Pengembangan desain Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) berbasis android menggunakan 6 tahap pengembangan model Luther (1994) yaitu concept (pengonsepan), design (pendesainan), material collecting (pengumpulan materi), asembly (pembuatan), Testing/evaluasi formatif, dan distribusion (Pendistribusian). Dilanjutkan dengan penilaian pengamatan perkembangan komunikasi anak autis menggunakan pretest - postest design. Data hasil penelitian yang dilakukan terhadap 6 anak autis diperoleh rata-rata pretes 8,8 dan rata-rata postes 15,1 dengan skor maksimal postes 20 sehingga terjadi peningkatan nilai pada postes. Dan rata-rata perhitungan gain score diperoleh nilai sebesar 0,567 yang berada dalam posisi tidak kurang dari 0,3 dan tidak lebih sama dengan 0,7. Dari rata-rata tersebut dapat dinilai bahwa kriteria keefektifan desain Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) berbasis android berdasarkan tabel kriteria penilaian pretes postes berada dalam kategori sedang. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, menujukkan peningkatan nilai postes setelah dilakukannya intervensi dan rata-rata perhitungan gain score berada dalam kategori sedang, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa desain Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) berbasis android cukup efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi anak autis.

This study aims to improve the communication skills of children with autism in conveying the desire for objects in the home, through the design of Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) android based in SLB Nganjuk.
Development of Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) design based on android using 6 stages of Luther model development (1994) that is concept, design, collecting material, assembly, Testing and Distribution. Followed by an assessment of the observation of the development of autistic child communication using pretest - post test design. Data on the results of research conducted on six children with autism obtained an average pretest of 8.8 and average post test 15.1 with a maximum score of 20 post test resulting in an increase in the value of post test. And the average gain score calculation is gained by a value of 0.567 which is in a position not less than 0.3 and no more equal to 0.7. From the averages it can be assessed that the criteria of effectiveness of the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) based on android based on the pretest post test assessment criteria table are in the medium category. Based on the result of data analysis, showed the increase of post test value after intervention and average score gain calculation is in medium category, it can be concluded that the design of Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) based on android quite effective in improving communication ability of autistic children.
