This study aims to describe the application of
appreciation and creation in extracurricular learning of Banjar Kemuning dance
at SMP Negeri 2 Buduran Sidoarjo. The application of appreciation and creation
is used to increase students' motivation, understanding, and creativity in
participating in extracurricular dance activities. The research method used is
a qualitative method with data collection techniques in the form of
non-participant observation, interviews, documentation, as well as pre-tests
and post-tests on students who are research subjects and included in the data
analysis. Based on the data obtained, it shows that students who participate in
extracurricular learning activities at SMP Negeri 2 Buduran Sidoarjo with a
total of 23 students, after the application of appreciation and creation, it
can be seen when students practice dancing in extracurricular learning, they
appear active, creative and their dance movements are more diverse.
The results of the study show that before the implementation of
appreciation and creativity, students lacked understanding of the material,
showed low enthusiasm, and did not perform the dance movements optimally.
However, after the implementation, students became more active, enthusiastic,
and creative in performing the Banjar Kemuning dance movements. The
appreciation and creativity approach proved to be effective in improving the
quality of extracurricular dance learning, shaping student character, and
