Lahirnya Muslimat NU merupakan salah satu bentuk konkrit tumbuhnya kesadaran gerakan perempuan dan reformasi di tubuh NU meskipun menuai konflik di tubuh internal NU serta para kyai. Sebagai organisasi perempuan yang beranggotakan kaum ibu, Muslimat NU telah mengalami modernisasi pemikiran dimana tidak lagi berpandangan bahwa wujud emansipasi adalah persamaan hak dan kewajiban saja melainkan peranan perempuan harus di berikan tingkatan lebih lanjut dan ruang gerak yang cukup untuk mengakomodir perempuan Islam Ahlussunnah Waljamaah. Sehingga Muslimat NU turut serta dalam gelanggang Pemilu tahun 1955 dan 1971 untuk menguatkan nota politik NU dan berusaha untuk memilih dan dipilih oleh masyarakat sebagai anggota DPR dan KONSTITUANTE.

Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah tentang (1) Bagaimana partisipasi politik Muslimat NU dalam pemilu pada tahun 1955 dan 1971; (2) Bagaimana pandangan pengurus organisasi NU terhadap keterlibatan kader Muslimat NU dalam memperebutkan kursi partai. Metode dalam penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian sejarah. Heuristik (pengumpulan sumber) didapatkan peneliti di Perpustakaan Nasional RI, ANRI, Perpustakaan PBNU. Sumber berupa hasil wawancara dilakukan kepada Narasumber yang berkaitan dengan partisipasi politik Muslimat NU dalam pemilu. Kritik sumber dilakukan peneliti agar sumber yang didapatkan oleh peneliti dapat dijadikan sebagai sumber interpretasi data. Interpretasi data yang dilakukan berupa analisis sumber yang dikaitkan dengan kondisi pada saat itu, agar penulisan sejarah dapat dilaksanakan dengan baik. Historiografi merupakan metode akhir dalam penelitian, yakni dengan menuliskan hasil dari penelitian dalam bentuk tulisan.

Hasil penelitian ini adalah tentang bagaimana bentuk dan tingkat partisipasi politik Muslimat NU dalam Pemilu tahun 1955 dan 1971 serta pandangan pengurus organisasi NU terhadap keterlibatan Muslimat NU dalam memperebutkan kusi partai. Peneliti juga menjabarkan bagaimana faktor-faktor yang mendorong partisipasi politik Muslimat NU dalam pemilu.

                The birth of Muslimat NU was one of the concrete forms of growing awareness of the women's movement and reform within the NU despite the internal conflict within the NU and the kyai. As a women's organization whose members are mothers, Muslimat NU has undergone a modernization of thinking which no longer holds that the form of emancipation is equality of rights and obligations but rather the role of women must be given a further level and space sufficient to accommodate Islamic women Ahlussunnah Waljamaah. So that Muslimat NU participated in the 1955 and 1971 Election arena to strengthen NU's political memorandum and try to elect and be elected by the community as members of the DPR and KONSTITUANTE.

                The formulation of the problems in this study are about (1) How was the political participation of Muslimat NU in the elections in 1955 and 1971; (2) What is the view of the NU organization management towards the involvement of Muslimat NU cadres in fighting for party seats. The method in this research is historical research method. Heuristics (collecting resources) were obtained by researchers at the National Library of Indonesia, ANRI, PBNU Library. The sources in the form of interviews were conducted with resource persons relating to the political participation of Muslimat NU in the election. Sources are criticized by researchers so that sources obtained by researchers can be used as sources of data interpretation. Data interpretation is in the form of source analysis that is related to the conditions at the time, so that the writing of history can be carried out properly. Historiography is the final method in research, namely by writing the results of research in written form.
The results of this study are about the form and level of political participation of Muslimat NU in the 1955 and 1971 elections and the views of the NU organization's management on the involvement of Muslimat NU in fighting for party discussions. Researchers also describe how the factors that encourage Muslimat NU's political participation in elections.
