SLOW LEARNERS CHILDREN IN SMKN 1 SIDOARJO

The character of responsibility as one of the
character education in schools that can improve student learning outcomes in
school. If the character value of the responsibility of students is high, the
learning outcomes are also high. Slow learning children is one type of child
with special needs who has low or slightly below average learning achievement
in children in general. So they find it difficult to follow and understand
learning. So that the character of this responsibility is very appropriate and
it takes a slow learning child who is adjusted based on the criteria and
problems that the child is slow to learn, including low motivation, low memory,
and low academic achievement.
This
study uses a qualitative approach with a type of case study. Data collection
techniques using in-depth interviews and observations. The data that has been
obtained is then analyzed by data reduction techniques, data presentation, and
conclusion drawing. To test the validity of the data using techniques including
data triangulation.
The
results of this study indicate that the method used in instilling the character
of responsibility in slow learning children at SMK Negeri 1 Sidoarjo, namely,
(1) Environmental Conditioning Methods, including direction at the time of MPLS
(the introduction of the school environment) and assessment; (2) Habitual
methods, includingmodels drill and direct intruction (continuous training and
instruction); (3) Positive Strengthening Methods, including giving instructions
using positive sentences, giving attention in the form of monitoring, and
giving rewards. The benefits obtained in planting the character of
responsibility in slow children learn at SMK Negeri 1 Sidoarjo, which trains
memory, increases academic value, increases the ability to interact socially,
and is able to grow other characters.
