PERAN KOMUNITAS LITERASI SUDUT KOTA (LSK) DALAM MENINGKATKAN BERPIKIR KRITIS ANAK USIA DINI DI KECAMATAN SEMAMPIR SURABAYA
THE ROLE OF THE CITY CORNER LITERACY COMMUNITY (LSK) IN IMPROVING EARLY CHILDHOOD'S CRITICAL THINKING IN SEMAMPIR DISTRICT, SURABAYA
Rendahnya tingkat literasi pada anak usia dini di Kota Surabaya menjadi permasalahan serius yang memerlukan keterlibatan berbagai pihak, termasuk komunitas masyarakat, untuk menanganinya. Berdasarkan data di Kecamatan Semampir, terdapat 12.040 anak usia dini (usia 3–6 tahun), namun hanya 3.260 anak (27%) yang melanjutkan ke pendidikan anak usia dini (PAUD) atau taman kanak-kanak. Masa anak usia dini merupakan periode emas dalam mengembangkan potensi anak secara optimal, termasuk kemampuan berpikir kritis yang berperan penting dalam perkembangan kognitif. Penelitian ini berfokus pada peran Komunitas Literasi Sudut Kota (LSK) dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis anak usia dini di Kecamatan Semampir, faktor pendukung, serta hambatan yang dihadapi.
Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek penelitian meliputi ketua dan anggota Komunitas LSK serta orang tua anak usia dini yang berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan komunitas. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif, dan dokumentasi, dengan uji keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi dan pemeriksaan oleh anggota (member check). Analisis data dilakukan melalui proses kondensasi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Komunitas LSK berperan penting dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis anak usia dini melalui kegiatan yang mendorong diskusi, identifikasi masalah, penggalian informasi, dan penyampaian pendapat. Faktor pendukung mencakup dedikasi tinggi anggota komunitas, ketersediaan bahan bacaan yang beragam, dukungan orang tua dan masyarakat, serta lokasi kegiatan yang strategis. Hambatan yang dihadapi meliputi keterbatasan anggaran, rendahnya kesadaran orang tua, kesulitan memperoleh fasilitas tetap, dan gangguan aktivitas sosial. Rekomendasi yang diajukan meliputi strategi kerja sama komunitas dengan mitra untuk meningkatkan dukungan finansial, pengembangan program pendampingan dan konseling, serta diversifikasi kegiatan seperti debat mini atau bermain peran. Selain itu, komunitas perlu memperluas jangkauan kegiatan ke wilayah lain di Surabaya, sementara orang tua diharapkan lebih aktif dalam kegiatan komunitas dan menciptakan budaya literasi di rumah.

The low level of literacy in early childhood in Surabaya City is a serious problem that requires the involvement of various parties, including the community, to address it. Based on data in Semampir District, there are 12,040 early childhood children (aged 3–6 years), but only 3,260 children (27%) continue to early childhood education (PAUD) or kindergarten. Early childhood is a golden period in developing children's potential optimally, including critical thinking skills that play an important role in cognitive development. This study focuses on the role of the City Corner Literacy Community (LSK) in improving the critical thinking skills of early childhood children in Semampir District, supporting factors, and obstacles faced.
This study uses a qualitative approach. The research subjects include the head and members of the LSK Community and parents of early childhood children who participate in community activities. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, with data validity tests using triangulation and member checks. Data analysis was carried out through the process of data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions.
The results of the study indicate that the LSK Community plays an important role in improving critical thinking skills in early childhood through activities that encourage discussion, problem identification, information gathering, and expression of opinions. Supporting factors include high dedication of community members, availability of diverse reading materials, support from parents and the community, and strategic activity locations. Obstacles faced include budget constraints, low parental awareness, difficulty in obtaining permanent facilities, and disruption of social activities. Recommendations proposed include community collaboration strategies with partners to increase financial support, development of mentoring and counseling programs, and diversification of activities such as mini debates or role-playing. In addition, the community needs to expand the reach of activities to other areas in Surabaya, while parents are expected to be more active in community activities and create a culture of literacy at home..
