Abstrak

Huruf adalah salah satu bentuk komunikasi visual. Terdapat beberapa jenis font yang bisa diterapkan salah satunya yaitu font dekoratif. Terkadang peggunaan font dekoratif tidak tepat penempatannya di beberapa media sehingga susah untuk dibaca. Font dekoratif biasanya digunakan di media-media tertentu salah satunya adalah untuk desain undangan pernikahan. Tujuan dari perancangan ini dibuat untuk penguatan identitas desain undangan pernikahan dan untuk menambah karakter font dekoratif yang bertema ilustrasi tumbuhan dan bunga. Metode penelitian yang dilakukan adalah penelitian berbasis 5W+1H serta menggunakan pengumpulan data melalui studi literatur dan pengumpulan data melalui internet/website. Hasil dari perancangan ini adalah keberhasilan penyampaian informasi melalui huruf dekoratif karena tampilan font dekoratif memiliki bentuk yang rumit dari jenis-jenis font lainnya. Diharapkan dengan adanya penelitian ini dapat memperkaya beragam referensi jenis font untuk para desainer dan audiens dalam menggunakan huruf dekoratif sebagai elemen desain yang penting dan informatif serta dapat menggunakan huruf dekoratif sesuai dengan media yang digunakan.

Abstract

Letters are a form of visual communication. There are several types of fonts that can be applied, one of which is decorative fonts. Sometimes the use of decorative fonts is not properly placed in some media so that it is difficult to read. Decorative fonts are usually used in certain media, one of which is for the design of wedding invitations. The goals  of this design to strengthen the identity of  wedding invitation design and to add character to the decorative font with the theme of plant and flower illustrations. The research method used is 5W + 1H based research and uses data collection through literature studies and data collection via the internet/website. The result of this design is the success of conveying information through decorative letters because the appearance of decorative fonts has a complicated shape than other types of fonts. It is hoped that this research can enrich various types of font references for designers and audiences in using decorative letters as important and informative design elements and being able to use decorative letters according to the media used.
