This research aims to determine the effect of project
based learning using the design thinking method on the ability to solve
problems and create design briefs in Class XI DKV students at Yapalis Krian
Vocational School, Sidoarjo.
This research uses a quantitative approach, then in data
collection an experimental model is used. Based on the theoretical findings
that support this research, an observation assessment instrument was used to
determine the implementation of project based learning using the design
thinking method in learning activities. To obtain data on problem solving
abilities, an assessment rubric was used which has been developed and adapted
to the needs of the research by referring to existing theories. Then, to find
out data on the ability to create a design brief, a previously developed design
brief assessment instrument was used, the results of which were the work of the
students.
Based on the research results, it can be concluded that
there is a difference between the experimental class and the control class in
design thinking in creating design briefs in class XI DKV class. Apart from
that, it is also known that there are differences between the experimental
class and the control class in project based learning in problem solving in
class XI DKV class.
