HUBUNGAN ANTARA ACADEMIC SELF-EFFICACY DAN STUDENT ENGAGEMENT PADA ATLET PELAJAR DI SMA OLAHRAGA JAWA TIMUR
THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ACADEMIC SELF-EFFICACY AND STUDENT ENGAGEMENT IN STUDENT-ATHLETE AT SMA OLAHRAGA JAWA TIMUR
Peran ganda atlet pelajar dalam ranah akademik dan olahraga perlu dijalankan dengan seimbang. Penyeimbangan peran tersebut seringkali membuat atlet pelajar menemui dilema. Guna mewujudkan penyeimbangan peran tersebut, atlet pelajar perlu mengembangkan student engagement dalam kegiatannya di sekolah. Salah satu faktor yang memengaruhi student engagement adalah academic self[1]efficacy. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara academic self-efficacy dan student engagement pada atlet pelajar di Sekolah Menengah Atas Olahraga Jawa Timur. Metode kuantitatif dengan studi korelasional digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian populasi. Instrumen pada penelitian ini adalah skala student engagement yang disusun berdasarkan Dogan, dan skala academic self-efficacy yang disusun berdasarkan Rowbotham dan Schmitz. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji korelasi product moment. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada hubungan positif antara academic self-efficacy dan student engagement. Nilai koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,459. Bagi atlet pelajar yang dituntut untuk dapat memenuhi kedua bidang, academic self-efficacy berperan sebagai sumber penggerak atlet pelajar untuk memiliki engagement dalam ranah akademik dan olahraga. Sehingga, atlet pelajar memiliki keterlibatan yang tinggi dalam proses belajar mengajar ranah akademik dan latihan dalam olahraga.
The double identity that student-athlete have in academic and sport must be balance. To balancing that role, student-athlete often have a dilemma. Student-athlete who has a low student engagement would tend to avoiding the tasks in classroom, and that make this role not balance. One of factor that influencing student engagement is academic self-efficacy. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between academic self-efficacy and student engagement that owned by students-athletes in Sekolah Menengah Atas Olahraga Jawa Timur. Correlation quantitative method are used in this study. This study is a population research. Instrument in this study are using student engagement scale based on Dogan, and academic self-efficacy scale based on Rowbotham and Schmitz. The data analysis technique using product moment correlation test. The results of this study showed the correlation coefficient value of 0,459. Based on this results, this study indicates that there is a positive correlation between academic self-efficacy and student engagement. For an athletes who have to fulfill their role in sport and academic, academic self-efficacy has the role to increase their motivation in academic and sport. Thus, that make student athletes have engagement in academic and sport.
