Agriculture is a fundamental
sector as we are known as an agrarian country. Most of our people make their
living as farmers. Food needs continue to increase every year as the population
grows. Efforts to increase agricultural yields are constrained by many factors
including the decline in the quality of agricultural land. This is due to the
agricultural system that is not environmentally friendly. Another factor is the difficulty of farmers
getting subsidized fertilizers, making the cost of agricultural production more
expensive. From this, the Nglajang Village Government held a village community
empowerment program through training in making organic fertilizer which aims to
increase the capacity of farmers in Nglajang Village in their agricultural
system.
This study aims to detail the execution of the program for
village community empowerment via training in the manufacture of organic
fertilizer in Nglajang Village, Sugihwaras Subdistrict. It uses descriptive
qualitative research methodology. Observation, interviewing, and documenting
methods were used to gather data.
The results showed that in the implementation of the
empowerment program through training in making organic fertilizer went
smoothly, all implementation procedures were carried out well, but there were
problems in the acceptance of material in older and less educated participants
who were used to being in a comfort zone difficult to accept new changes. As
well as the lack of participants who attended the training. Therefore, the goal
of all farmers making their own fertilizer after the training was not achieved.
Lack of funding for sustainability activities. Less intensive communication
with farmers and socialization of the importance of environmentally friendly
agriculture which makes farmers feel there is no need to follow the empowerment
of the village community through this training. Suggestions: 1. In-depth
socialization about organic farming. 2. There is program sustainability in the
future.
