APPLICATION OF PROBLEM BASED LEARNING MODELS TO STUDENTS’ CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS ON THE MATERIAL OF HUMAN DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penerapan model problem based learning terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi sistem pencernaan manusia. Penelitian ini menggunakan pre-experimental design dengan tipe one group pretest posttest. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah 30 siswa kelas VIII C SMP Semen Gresik dengan 20 siswa laki-laki dan 10 siswa perempuan. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi, pemberian tes awal dan akhir, serta pemberian angket. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil perhitungan N-Gain menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model problem based learning terdapat peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi sistem pencernaan manusia dengan kategori tinggi. Analisis deskriptif pada aktivitas pembelajaran dengan diberikan perlakuan memiliki hasil persentase tinggi. Simpulan yang diperoleh adalah pembelajaran IPA menggunakan model problem based learning pada materi sistem pencernaan manusia dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa.
This research aimed to determine the application of the problem based learning model to students' critical thinking skills on the material of human digestive system. This research used pre-experimental design with the type of one group pretest posttest. The subjects in this research were 30 students of VIII-C class in SMP Semen Gresik with 20 male students and 10 female students. Data were collected by observation, pretest and posttest, and questionnaires. The data was analyzed quantitatively. The results of the N-Gain calculation showed that the application of the problem based learning model has increased students' critical thinking skills on the human digestive system material with a high category. Descriptive analysis on learning activities by given treatment has a high percentage result. The conclusion obtained was science learning using a problem based learning model on the human digestive system material can improve students’ critical thinking skills.
