Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan proses penerapan motif Naga Erau sebagai hiasan busana pengantin Muslim modern dan mengetahui hasil jadi dari penerapan motif Naga Erau pada hiasan busana pengantin Muslim modern. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan three stages design process atau tiga tahap proses desain yang meliputi problem definition and research, creative exploration, dan implementation. Tahap problem definition and research dimulai dari penentun target market dan kriteria desain, yaitu dari segi fungsi, estetika dan ekonomi. Pada tahap creatif exploration meliputi meliputi menentukan inspirasi melalui moodborad, pengembangan desain, pengembangan prototipe dan evaluasi prototipe. Tahap terakhir adalah implementasi konsep desain pada bahan sebenarnya. Proses penerapan motif Naga Erau pada busana pengantin Muslim ini dimulai dari pembuatan motif Naga Erau dengan cara merengga. Outline motif naga digambar dan diwujudkan dengan teknik bordir dan sulaman payet. Hasil jadi visualisasi Naga Erau pada hiasan busana pengantin Muslim terdiri dari 2 pieces busana, yaitu long dress dan cape dengan siluet I line. Visualisasi Naga Erau pada hiasan busana pengantin yang simple ini memberikan kesan elegan. Busana pengantin telah dievaluasi menggunakan teori prinsip desain, dan telah memenuhi beberapa prinsip antara lain kesatuan, proporsi, kesimbangan dan irama.
The purpose of this study was to describe the process of applying the Erau dragon motif as a modern Muslim wedding dress decoration and to find out the final result of the application of the Erau dragon motif to modern Muslim wedding dress decorations. This research method used a three-stage design process approach, which includes problem definition and research, creative exploration, and implementation. The problem definition and research stage started from determining the target market and design criteria, namely function, aesthetics and economy. The creative exploration stage included determining inspiration through fashion moodborad, design development, prototype development and prototype evaluation. The last stage was the implementation of the design concept on the actual fabrics. The process of applying the Naga Erau motif to the Muslim wedding dress started from making the Erau dragon motif by stretching it. The outline of the dragon motif is drawn and realized with embroidery and sequin techniques. The result of the visualization of the Erau dragon on Muslim wedding dress decorations consists of 2 pieces of clothing, namely a long dress and a cape with an I line silhouette. The visualization of the Erau dragon on this simple wedding dress decoration gives an elegant impression. The bridal dress has been evaluated using the theory of design principles, and has fulfilled several principles including unity, proportion, balance and rhythm.
