ANALYSIS OF HARMONY (MODULATION AND CHORD PROGRESSIONS) “INFERNAL GALOP” JACQUES OFFENBACH'S ARRANGEMENTS OF DEPAPEPE

Infernal Galop adalah lagu ciptaan Jacques Offenbach yang diaransemen oleh Depapepe dalam bentuk format duo gitar. Lagu memiliki tempo yang cepat dan tegas, serta terdapat modulasi dan progresi akord yang menarik untuk dibahas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis harmoni (Modulasi dan Progresi Akord) pada lagu Infernal Galop aransemen Depapepe. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif. Pengumpulan data diperoleh melalui studi literatur, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa; Modulasi terjadi 2, sementara dan tetap, modulasi sementara sebagai variasi akord yang tetap selaras dengan melodi lagu dan modulasi tetap memberikan kesan kejutan karena perubahannya tidak diberikan jembatan akord melainkan secara langsung. Progresi akord yang dimainkan terdiri dari pola biasa dan tidak biasa, serta progresi akord yang dimainkan cepat dan beberapa susunan akord tidak sesuai dengan tonika awal yang dimainkan namun tidak lepas dari melodi dari lagu.

            Infernal Galop is a song by Jacques Offenbach arranged by Depapepe in the form of a guitar duo. The song has a fast and firm tempo, and there are interesting chord progressions and modulations to discuss. This study aims to analyze the harmony (Modulation and Chord Progression) in the song Infernal Galop, arranged by Depapepe. This study uses a qualitative research approach. Data collection was obtained through literature studies, interviews and documentation. The results of this study indicate that; Modulation occurs 2, temporary and fixed, temporary modulation as a variation of chords that remains in harmony with the melody of the song and modulation still gives the impression of surprise because the changes are not given a chord bridge but directly. The chord progressions that are played consist of regular and unusual patterns, as well as chord progressions that are played quickly and some chord arrangements do not match the initial tonic that is played but cannot be separated from the melody of the song.
